In the aftermath of the raid on the Shie Hassaikai, Wolverine led the effort to uncover any information that the Shie Hassaikai had on their efforts to recreate the Weapon X Program. At the same time, Gabby had been adopted by Wolverine. They soon hear the news that Sir Nighteye had died from injuries he sustained during the raid. A funeral service was held in his honor. Many Pro Heroes attended the services including Class 1-A. X-23 was still processing that Sir Nighteye was actually gone. Though she didn't know him very well, she respected him as a Pro Hero.

Kirishima: You okay, Laura?

X-23: I'm...I'm fine, Eijiro. It's just that...Sir Nighteye didn't deserve this.

Kirishima: At least he went out like a Pro Hero. I guess that's all any of us can ask for.

As Kirishima said that, X-23 glanced over to Gabby who was standing next to her. Taking a deep breath, X-23 speaks to Gabby.

X-23: How are you feeling?

Gabby: I'm okay. Are these your friends?

X-23: Yes. This is my boyfriend Eijiro Kirishima. The others are my classmates.

Gabby: They all seem sad.

X-23: A brave Pro Hero died. He died helping a little girl like yourself.

As X-23 said that, Gabby glanced over to the portrait of Sir Nighteye. She didn't know him. She had no frame of reference to him. But despite all this, she was quick to share the collective grief of Class 1-A. Meanwhile, Wolverine approached All Might and Aizawa.

Wolverine: I'm sorry about Sir Nighteye. You have my condolences.

All Might: Thank you, Logan. Sir Nighteye deserved better than this, but I'm sure he was at peace with it.

Wolverine: I didn't know him very well, but I respect him as a Pro Hero.

All Might then shook Wolverine's hand. As everyone mourned the loss of Sir Nighteye, Wolverine smoke a cigar.

Aizawa: I'm glad you came, Logan.

Wolverine: Don't mention it.

Aizawa: I heard you had a run in with Akihiro.

Wolverine: I did. He was with those two League members.

Aizawa; Were you able to find out what they were doing?

Wolverine: No idea. It didn't seem like they were working together. If I had to guess, it might've had something to do with Shie Hassaikai's attempt to recreate the Weapon X Program.

As Wolverine updates Aizawa on the situation, Aizawa sighs. He then glances over to Gabby.

Aizawa: And the kid?

Wolverine: She's a clone of Laura. Somehow the Shie Hassaikai got a sample of her DNA and used it to create her.

Aizawa: We did a thorough search of that lab. We didn't find any other clones.

Wolverine: Good.

Aizawa: I'll make the necessary preparations for....Gabby.

Wolverine: Thanks, Shota. I owe you one.

Aizawa: How's Laura?

Wolverine: She's still shook up by her encounter with Akihiro. Not to mention what she saw in that lab. No one should ever have to see that kind of shit.

Wolverine fell silent as he finished his sentence. He could tell that this particular mission had taken a toll on X-23's well being. After speaking with Aizawa, Wolverine approaches X-23.

X-23: Hey, Dad.

Wolverine: How are you holding up, kid?

X-23: Fine, I guess. It got a little intense for a moment.

Wolverine: For someone barely into their first year in UA, you've been through quite a bit.

X-23: You could say that. Still, there's something....wrong about this.

Wolverine: What do you mean?

X-23: This is the first time I've been part of a mission where someone died.

Upon hearing this, Wolverine sighed. He knew all too well of the pain of losing a comrade.

Wolverine: No one ever said this line of work was ever easy. You put yourself on the line on a daily basis. And if you're lucky, you'll make it to retirement before your luck runs out.

X-23: Speaking from experience?

Wolverine: Yeah. I've lost quite a few people in my time. And let me tell you this. It never gets easier. I know you've been through a lot.

X-23: You know what's funny? This kinda reminds me of what Mr. Aizawa said to us back at orientation.

Wolverine: And that would be?

X-23: The world is full of unfairness. Villain attacks, natural disasters, and so many other incidents. Our jobs is to combat the unfairness. That's just how it is.

X-23 then pauses for a moment and glances over to Gabby. Seeing the young girl standing next to her felt surreal to her.

Wolverine: Sir Nighteye won't be the last comrade you lose. In this line of work, you'll have to make some tough calls. Tough calls that can mean life or death for you or your comrades. You're young and still have a lot to learn. But you've got a good head on your shoulders.

X-23: But I failed. I couldn't stop Akihiro....

Wolverine: Not all missions will go exactly as planned. You'll stumble. You'll fall. But it's how you pick yourself up when you fall that defines you. In this line of work, we're built different from the other Pro Heroes. We get pushed down. We get right back up. We don't do it for the glory. We do it because we got people we care about.

With that, X-23 took that piece of advice to heart. X-23 and the others watched as All Might gave a touching speech honoring the life and legacy of Sir Nighteye. In that moment, X-23 had once more got a taste of the harsh realities of being a Pro Hero. But despite this, X-23 would not allow that to slow her down.
