Chapter Sixteen - A New Undertaking

After the events of the Shie Hassaikai Raid, the Hero Work Studies ended soon after. By this point, Gabby had been given a place in X-23's dorm room. In the early hours just before class started, X-23 introduced Gabby to Kirishima and the rest of Class 1-A. 

X-23: Gabby, these are my classmates. Class 1-A, this is Gabby. 

Class 1-A: Hello Gabby!

Gabby: H....hey! 

As Gabby introduced herself to the others, some of them couldn't help but notice the similar appearance between X-23 and Gabby. 

Mina: Aww! She's a cute little Wolverine, ain't she! Why didn't you tell us that you had a little sister?!

Gabby looked at Mina with a confused look. X-23 however was annoyed, but understood Mina's curiosity. At this point, she didn't know how to explain Gabby's origins. 

X-23: It's...it's a long story. I'll explain it to you later. 

As X-23 said that, the bell rang. 

X-23: Gabby, head back to my Dorm. I'll meet you back when class is done. 

Gabby nods her head as X-23 and the rest of Class 1-A make their way to class. As soon as everyone got seated, Aizawa made an announcement.

Aizawa: UA will be hosting it's annual Cultural Festival.

Upon hearing this, most of Class 1-A was excited. X-23 herself was both excited and concerned given current events. Kirishima soon gave his opinion.

Kirishima: Is it really a good idea to host this thing with all the Villains running around?

It was a surprise to hear Kirishima being the cautious one. But it was concern that X-23 shared. Not because of the League of Villains, but because of Daken. She considered him to be the biggest threat. 

Aizawa: Easy there, Kirishima. Your concerns are valid, but the Cultural Festival is important to not only this class, but to all the other classes of UA. Rest assured that there will be heavy security. With that being said, this class will be selecting a program to perform it.

With that, most of Class 1-A began suggesting ideas for what the program should be. It soon became clear that the class was unable to come to a decision. Aizawa had a way to combat this.

Aizawa: If you cannot decide on what to do for your program, you'll have to do a lecture.

With that, Aizawa laid out his ultimatum. As the class continued to throw out suggestions, Mina smiled as she does some stretches.

Mina: Hey guys! Come here! Check this!

Mina does a few more stretches while X and the rest of Class 1-A turn their attention to Mina. After doing some stretches, Mina begins dancing, demonstrating her breakdancing abilities. The entire class was in awe of this. X-23 knew exactly where Mina was going with this. 

X-23: Don't even think about it! I am not dancing! 

Mina: Aw c'mon, Laura! You'd probably make a great dancer!

X-23 simply glared at Mina, causing Mina to let out a nervous chuckle. Mina then turns to Jiro.

Mina: Jiro, how many instruments you got in your Dorm?

Jiro: Plenty. Why?

Mina: With all those instruments and your musical know all, maybe our class could do a little band performance.

As Mina suggested that, Jiro was hesitant about this. It wasn't long before the rest of Class 1-A got on board with this idea.

Yaoyorozu: That's a wonderful idea, Mina!

Jiro had doubts about doing a performance as she was embarrassed of her musical hobbies. But seeing as most of the class was on board, she hesitantly relents.

Aizawa: I can tell that you have a lot of work to do. Go on and plan your performance. Class dismissed.

As class was dismissed, Jiro gathered Class 1-A in her dorm to plan out the performance. As most of class were picking out their instruments, X-23 eyes a Gibson SG. 

X-23: Is that a Gibson SG.

Jiro: It is. My Dad gave me that as a birthday present last year. Though I switched to Bass that year as well.

X-23: May I?

Jiro: Go right for it.

Jiro then hands X-23 the Gibson guitar. After tuning the Guitar, X-23 begins playing a Hard Rock inspired riff. As she begins to play, everyone was stunned at how well X-23 could play.

Kirishima: That was amazing, Michael! When did you learn how to play?

X-23: I learned to play a long time ago. It's good to know that rust isn't an issue. I can still play as well as I did the last time I played.

With that, it became clear that Morbius was a skilled guitarist in his own right. He would be the lead guitarists in the Class 1-A band while Tokoyami and Kaminari would play rhythm guitars. Jiro would provide vocals as well as play Bass. Yaoyorozu would play keyboards while Bakugo would play drums. Mina would lead the rest in a dance number that would go along with the music. With that, they laid out the groundwork for the performance of Class 1-A at the Cultural Festival. After that, X-23 and Kirishima began walking back to their Dorms. 

Kirishima: We're gonna rock the Cultural Festival!

X-23: This should definitely be interesting. It's good to see our class united towards a common goal. Not that it wasn't before, it's just to see it so...visible if that makes any sense. Maybe...maybe this will be good for Gabby. 

With that, X-23 made her way back to her Dorm and slept in for the night. As she laid down on her bed, she reflected on the days to come for not only the Cultural Festival, but also the rising threat of Villains.
