The whole ride really was exactly as he'd expected. Shintaro didn't have a fear of heights, so looking down at his dangling feet, ten or so meters above the ground, wasn't that big a deal. And yet neither was it something that made him have so much fun that he started giggling in amusement. It was a pleasant surprise for him, however, that it was precisely that for Mary. She was having the time of her life. It didn't seem like it even mattered to her that Shintaro was the only one to accompany her. Somehow, he could sort of sense that they were similar. In some ways. Maybe in the sense that they were both introverted. But he didn't feel that to be entirely correct. Whatever it was, he felt some connection to her. He merely assumed that Mary didn't make it a habit to venture outside often. A sort of different type of shut-in, he thought. A much more likable one, that's for sure, he thought.

It must have been a special moment for her, and it was an enjoyable ride for Shintaro, too. He could actually take a moment to look at the sights with the steady, calm pace the carousel was going. It surprised him how he didn't mind it at all. Mary was still smiling and giggling after the ride was over. For a moment she must have forgotten how shy she was and gave him her thanks, as giddily as a child. Shintaro had started to grow fond of her.

"Yeah, no problem," he told her. Somehow, Shintaro had started to think of her as a sort of little-sister character. One that was younger than Momo. At least that was the sort of impression she was beginning to leave on him.
