Shintaro had made Ene search up for the nearest clinics. There'd been only one nearby, everything else would take bus rides to get to. This one was about a kilometer away. He didn't like the fact that he had to go to this one. The heat was visibly leaking out of Shintaro's bedhead.
"I think I'm boiling alive right now," he said.
"Can't relate," said Ene.
They were entering the street where the clinic was located.
"Here let me share the pain," he pulled out his phone and let her bask in the sun.
"Gyaaaaaaah! I'm melting!" she yelled and writhed around with her arms.
"See, now you feel me."
"Like hell I do! I can't feel a thing. Your phone's starting to overheat, though."
"Hm," Shintaro grumbled and let his phone come down.
"How's your migraine?"
He looked at her. "Worried?"
"Answer the question," she said, bluntly.
"The heat's distracting me. But it still hurts. I feel like it might act up just... at random."
"We need to get going faster, then."
"I already it's hot as hell. I'd die of a stroke."
As Shintaro wiped the sweat off his brows, Ene caught sight of something.
"Hey, look. A cat."
"Oh." Shintaro could see a pitch-black cat briskly walking past the streets without a care. "So?"
"Well, see I don't get to go out much, so I haven't really seen a cat in a while."
"Oh? Wonder why. You really should."
"Mhm. Right," she gave him the side-eye. "I wonder if black cats get extra heat in the summer."
"They absorb more heat than other cats, I think, so they usually only hang around in shadows and shades. That one's weird though."
"Yeah, walking out and about in the sun like that. Shadyass kitten."
"Yup. Oh, the clinic's there." Shintaro pointed to a sign that said 'Kusakabe's Clinic' in front of a cozy-looking house, that looked more like a traditional home than a clinic.
"Huh... Oh hey, the cat's gone," said Ene.
"It is?" Shintaro looked over. It'd been walking along the streets right underneath the sun but was now completely out of sight. Probably finally decided to stay in the shades. "Anyway, let's head in."
"Yeah," Ene mumbled.
