As they walked along the streets, Ene looked at Shintaro and broke the silence. "Why didn't you tell her about your migraine? We should get you to the hospital, instead of just the local doctor."
"I didn't wanna worry her. Anyway, the clinic's probably a better option for me-
"No-no-no. You were literally squirming on the ground like someone set you on fire or something. For real, let's get you to the hospital."
He didn't reply.
Ene gave out a sigh. "Two years. And you walk out just like that, because of a migraine."
She smiled for a moment.
"Hm... You're right. But I dunno. I don't feel like it's been that long at all." He looked around the streets. It was familiar. And of course, it was because he'd spent all of his life here. But it felt recent, as well. As if he'd spent every day walking through and not being inside.
There was no one around. Not a single person in sight. They must all be elsewhere. Maybe the beach. Or one of the bigger parks in the center of the city. The local playground across his house was empty today... Today?
"Ene."
"Hm?"
"It's the Bon Festival today isn't it?" Some might even be visiting graves, in that case.
"I think so? Right, so that's why it's so empty. Thought they might've run away cause of you."
"Huh?"
"You stink. I can smell you through the screen. Did you even brush your teeth?"
"...I completely forgot."
"Well, we're getting you a health check anyway, so it doesn't matter."
"Yeah."
"Unless the doctor's a tall, hot lady. Or if the nurses are really pretty. Imagine them flaring their nostrils in disgust at you, hah!"
"We're going back inside." Shintaro turned around.
"I'M KIDDING!" Ene said and chuckled to herself. "Come on, let's go get you to a hospital."
"I'm still opting for a clinic."
"Fine, just go somewhere."
"Sure. Look up where the closest clinic is at, would you?"
"On it, Master."
"I feel like that's the first time you've called me that today."
Ene let out an uncomfortable grunt. "I just... forgot."
She'd been too worried to remember.
"I see," Shintaro said.
