"Anna!"
"Anna!" The paramedic and Anita both scream trying to snap her out of her daze. Anna didn't move, didn't respond, she made no recollection that anyone had just shouted in her face. Anna stayed sat on the floor, leaning against the gate for support.

Brody, when he dies, stayed in Anna's lap for about 10 minutes, growing cold, before the paramedics arrived and moved him. Nobody had dared to try before them and they were right not to. When a paramedic touched Anna's shoulder and Brody's head, she screamed louder that what seemed humanly possible. All the pupils still on lunch, on the other side of the school grounds, came running to the front gates, where the screams originated. Anna started to pull Brody closer to her chest, desperate not to let go of him, to lose him. Despite the chaos and screaming, Brody looked so peaceful, laying down in Anna's arms as he normally would (she wasn't much of a lounger so they swapped stereotypical roles) he was smiling slightly, not his typical cocky smile but a smile like he was genuinely happy. With his face relaxed you could see how angular his face was; strong jaw, high cheekbones, skinny nose, all this atop lovely, broad shoulders, you could see why Anna loved his appearance, what more could you ask for?
Eventually, the paramedic managed to get Anna and Brody apart. After restraining Anna from her cries, her kicks and punches, they managed to get him onto the body bag and into the back of the ambulance. Once the door to the ambulance had closed, Anna silenced and sunk to her knees as if the realization had just slapped her in the face. The police car arrived and Anita came over to move Anna away from the side of the road. they made it to the gate and just as Anita was about to open it, Anna lent against it and sank to the floor, and stared at the spot by the road that she had been during Brody's last moments. She just stared. Anita tried to talk to her but when Anna failed to respond, she called the paramedic over from where she was trying to help Ben, after his fight with Brody. Most of the students that came out after Anna's screaming went back inside after the end of lunch bell rang but many of the year 11's remained outside because they all knew Brody and Anna, and seemed 'concerned.'
Steph, a girl from their English class, and one of Brody's closest friends, walked out of the school to join everyone at the gate
"what's going on? What happened?" she asked. No-one answered, some people began crying and Steph walks to the part of the gate behind where Anna was sat. She looked down at Anna quizzingly, then back up at Anita who was talking to the paramedic.
"what happened?" Steph questioned her, this time in a more serious tone then she realised who she hadn't seen all lunch and thought nothing of, until she realised he wasn't with Anna.
"Where's Brody?" all of the people closest to her, hit her on the arm, telling her that what she asked shouldn't have been said. she sighed in frustration.
"why is no-one answering me!? And where is Brody!?" At this Anna stood up and glared at Steph. She pulled a face, pressing her question. Finally, Anna spoke.
"You know, i could never understand why Brody kept you as his friend. well, i cant gather why anyone would." Steph gasped at the outburst. "You never know when to close that fucking mouth of yours. And when people tell you not to speak, you continue like the world revolves around you. well, Miss Universe, tell me why, if the world revolves around you, could you not stop Brody dying?!" Everyone went silent. Anna took a step back away from the gate.
"oh so now you shut up! At a point when its doing no-one but yourself any favours!" Steph opened her mouth as if to speak again. "no. that wasnt an invitation to start talking shit again! 'cause face it, thats all you ever talk, isnt it!" Everyone remains silent as Anna paces the length of the gate. They all seem so shocked to do anything, even the paramedics and officers seemed glued to the floor.
"Come to think of it, why are any of you here?" she stops walking and points to individuals in the crowd. "you dont care... you used to hate me... so did you... so can somebody please explain why the fuck you wish to bother me with your presence? or are you all just here to see if i breakdown again, or incase someone else wants to walk in front of a truck? none of you ever gave two shits about me and Brody. whats the point in starting now? he's gone, dead, passed on, deceased! he will never know that you showed any sympathy towards him. Anita starts walking over to Anna to stop her ranting but by the time it took her to walk to the other end of the gate, Anna had broken down into tears and collapsed to the floor. the police issued the teachers to take all the pupils inside. everyone left in silence. A police woman walked over to Anna and Anita.
"okay girls, we will need to ask you some questions but at this very moment we can label you as being in an unstable state to give evidence, so one of my officers will come and ask some questions later in the week, providing that you are stable enough to by then.. it will be alright." the policewoman walked away into her car and drove away behind the ambulance. Soon it was just Anna, Anita and the seemingly magically appearing Miss Swanson, left outside.
"Anna, Anita... it's nice to see two intelligent, beautiful young girls to be finally getting along. they do say there's always light at the end of the tunnel." she chuckles slightly, trying to improve the current atmosphere. "now then girls, you cant stay out here all day but i doubt you want to go back to lesson, and because there is only an hour left till school's over so you can't go home early, so if you want my office is still open." Anita stands up to face Miss Swanson, Anna remains on the floor, cuddling her knees, clearly too weak to stand unaided.
"thanks Miss, i'll take her to the toilets to clean up first." Anita bends down to lift Anna's arm over her shoulder and help her up. slowly, they make their way back through the school, with awkward glances from everyone changing classes as they pass through the corridors.
