Things have been going by in a blur ever since Mark's death. Matt didn't want to turn in Mark's body, but eventually I got it away from him. Matt moved in with me since Edd seemed to have moved out and gone out on his own. We sold Mark's books to the local library, though Matt wouldn't let me sell his clothes because he was going to wear them.
I could tell he was still in shock, and probably would be for a long time. We made enough money from Mark's books to host a funeral for him. I figured it would just be me and Matt, but surprisingly Mark's parents, Matt's mother, and some of our old school teachers showed up to pay their respects. I gave everyone a chance to speak. The teachers said how Mark was smarter than pretty much everyone in his class. His parents told about his childhood and what he was like up until after graduation. I glanced over at Matt. He was looking down, trying to avoid looking at anyone or anything. I don't blame him. The whole place was plastered with Mark's face. Pictures of Mark at work. Pictures of him cooking. Just everything I could collect from other people.
After the service, I stood with Matt while watching the others load Mark's coffin into the hearse. "So..Now what?..." He looked at me, and I could see a new wave of tears about to fall. "I honestly don't know..My mind is still..frozen.." I sighed. "I'm going to focus on catching Todd. Maybe then we can put Mark's memory at peace." Matt nodded, and went off to follow the hearse.

I stood behind Eddie as I watched the strange people dressed in black go off on their separate ways. But unlike everyone around me, I was happy. This was my chance to pay back to Mark for his kindness.
I faded out from the real world and entered the place where souls stayed behind because of some "unfinished business." I'm one of those people. Passing on for me was hard for me. Not that I wanted to.
I found Mark sitting by himself reading a book. I hugged him from behind. "Markie!" He turned and smiled, ruffling my hair. "Hello Jon!" I giggled, then shivered. He was cold. I understand he's just a ghost but he was colder than any ghost I've ever touched. He also seemed...happy. I tugged on his sleeve. "I wanna show you something!" He raised an eyebrow and followed me back to the entrance to the real world. That's when he stopped. "Jon, I'm not going back.."
I let go of his sleeve and looked up at him. "But you gotta! Duardy and Mattress miss you!" I didn't understand. He had a chance to go back. Why wasn't he taking it?
He sighed and stepped back. "Think about it. No more being chased around like a mouse by Todd. I can breathe! Plus I get to see you again! We have so much to catch up on! And Skye! I can see her again! In fact, where is she? I must speak to her." I went quiet then spoke up. "Mark, Skye passed on ages ago. So unless you want to pass on.." I stopped. Mark's eyes narrowed. "She's..gone?.." I nodded and took his icy cold hand. "Just once..?" He sighed and nodded. I gave him a soft reassuring smile and we entered the real world.
I was only planning on making one stop, and that was to Mark's grave. I could tell Mark didn't want anything to do with his old life, but he had to go back to Matt. I already told The Shadow that I was going to send him back. I led Mark to his grave. Mark stopped again. I was about to slap him one if he didn't move, but I know why he stopped.
Matt was kneeling down at his grave, placing every purple flower in existence on it. It reminded me of how Duardy visited my grave..He did it for over a year then stopped coming... I couldn't let that happen to Mark..That would drive him insane..
Mark walked towards Matt and knelt next to him. "Ginger?.." Matt didn't answer, only continuing to plant and place flowers around the grave. "He isn't going to hear you. To him, you're just a cold gust of wind." Mark didn't respond, only leaning his head on Matt's shoulders Matt shivered, tugged his jacket closer to him, and went back to his business. It was like that for quite a while, until Mark spoke.
"I want to go back."

I finished placing the last purple flower on the headstone of the grave. It wasn't much, but it was something. The guilt I've felt ever since that night has been haunting me every day. Why didn't I pull Mark away? Why didn't we go out a different way? Why? I buried my face into my hands and cried.
I stood up, gave the grave one last look, and went back to my car. I examined the other graves, two being Jon's and Skye's. I picked some wild flowers and laid one on each of their graves. It felt right to honor them, too..
I was about to unlock the fence when I noticed someone standing by the old oak tree next to the lake. I squinted. The person was oddly dressed, wearing a trench coat, a hat, and sunglasses. And they were..reading?.. Who just sits out under a tree in a graveyard reading a book with sunglasses on and looking like some secret agent. I went over to them and looked down.
I kicked his leg. "May I ask why you're reading out here in the middle of nowhere?" The man- what I hoped to be a man- didn't respond. Just flipped a page in his book. I kicked his leg again. "Hello? Are you deaf? Or are you mute?" That's when I noticed his chin. It's an odd place to notice, but it reminded me of...No, he's obviously dead.. I laughed and turned my back to him. "Nice chin." I laughed more, then I heard him speak. "Thanks, I like yours as well."
I froze and turned toward him. That voice..
I yanked off his hat and sunglasses. "You don't need to be so secretive while you re-"
Staring up at me, with that shit eating smirk he gives when he teases me, was Mark.

I watched as Matt tackled Mark to the ground and gave him what looked like a suffocating hug. I smiled. "That wasn't funny! You scared me!" I heard Matt shout. Mark rolled his eyes and got up. "Never said it was. I just didn't feel like being stuck in a coffin for the rest of my life." Matt slapped him playfully then led him to his car. "Let's go give Eddie a heart attack!"
My job was done. I looked up at Skye. "You had me lie to him! That's bad!" Skye giggled and straightened her glasses. "He's a million times happier with Matt than me." I giggled and watched them both drive off.
Now me and Mark are even.
