Matt's Pov🪞

"WELL WELL WELL!"

Me and Edd looked up from our castle building. We were about to put the finishing touches on it when we heard the familiar phrase come from next door. Edd turned and squinted. "Not even going to pay attention to them. Come on, Matt." Eduardo didn't seem to like getting ignored. He threw a soda can at the back of Edd's head. "I'm talking to you!"

That did it. Edd spun around and stomped up to Eddie. Soon, they were both yelling. You know, the usual. My eyes trained away from him onto Mark, who was watching me. I figured he was going to make some dumb comment like he always did, but he kept quiet. We stared at each other until he scoffed and looked away. I rolled my eyes. Drama king.

Eventually, Edd got sick of yelling and went inside. "Edd, wait! We still need to get the roof on!" He didn't hear. Eddie laughed and went back inside. I felt tears well up in my eyes. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Mark still standing there. I was about to yell at him to shove off, but Eddie did it for me. "Mark, make me dinner!" I heard Mark curse then his footsteps head back inside, leaving me standing alone.

-Time Skip-

I snuck outside to our unfinished castle. It looked like a fortress compared to the other houses around here. It was night, so thankfully no one would notice me.

The inside was still unfinished. Boards and nails were everywhere. But that could be handled. I moved everything out of the way, making space on the floor.

Once everything was moved, I stood back and smiled. Maybe I could make this a dance room?..I wondered out loud. "Or maybe a ball room! Same thing, but fancier!" I laughed and spun around.

Right into Mark's arms.

I yelped and looked up at him. His face was bright red as he stared down at me. I stared back, my face heating up. He placed his arms on my shoulder and pulled me closer. "You dance?.." I couldn't speak, so I nodded. God, if Edd or Eddie saw us, we're dead.

Mark smiled and took my hands. "How about we dance then? You seemed to have gotten things cleared up." I was still speechless. Any other time, all I got from him was, "You smell like a skunk." I wasn't falling for this.

I pulled away from him. "What are you and Eddie up to?! Something's fishy!" Mark placed a finger to my lips, silencing me. I felt my face heat up again. To my luck, he noticed. "You act all tough around me, but in the end, I'll always fluster you~"

He was right. I sighed and removed his finger. "So you want to dance? Sure. Bring it." Mark smiled and took my hands again. "Just follow my lead, love~" I nodded nervously. Dancing. With my enemy. At 2am. Perfect night. And totally not avoiding the fact that he just called me love.

So far, what we did was mostly slow dancing. Guess he liked taking things slow. I was still on edge around him, but most of what I felt was...calmness...Occasionally, he'd sneak a hand to my side to tickle me, to which I giggled.

Mark soon picked up the pace to our little waltz. I gripped onto him tightly. I felt like I was going to make a dumb move. And I didn't want that to ruin this moment between us. I stared up at him. I never got a good look at him before. Mostly because I tried avoiding his look. He was a lot more handsome than I thought he was. And instead of that stupid smirk on his face, he had a kind, soft smile. That's when my mouth formed words. "You're very pretty.."

Mark stopped moving. So did I. Did I say the wrong thing?...We stared at each other again until Mark's face went deep red. "I am?.." I nodded. "Hasn't anyone ever told you that when you aren't being an asshole?" He shook his head. "Well, Eddie did. But he was drunk. So that doesn't really count."

I giggled and ruffled his hair. "Well, I loved that dance. I didn't know you were that talented!" Mark chuckled. "I just have a special knack for dancing. And I'm glad I could do it with you~" He got close to my face. My brain was on autopilot. He was going to kiss me. I could do one of two things. One, slap him and stomp out. Or accept it.

I choose option two.

The kiss was soft at first, but I could tell Mark wanted to take this further. I didn't mind. I had all night. Plus, this was my first kiss with someone other than my mirror.

I was about to take off my jacket when I heard someone yell from outside. "Mark, stop gardening, get inside, and make me dessert!" Mark pulled away, startled by Eddie's voice. We stayed quiet as we heard Eddie stomp around to the side of the house. "You're not even here! Where the hell did you go?!"

Mark and I looked a mess from our little moment. I quickly smoothed Mark's hair back into place and straightened out his sweater. He smirked. "Aww..You don't want me to get in trouble?~" I glared at him and led him outside. "I will rethink this if you don't scoot!" I heard him laugh as I shoved him quickly toward his house. Before he went off, he winked and handed me a piece of paper. "Call me when you get inside." I nodded, my face red. As I headed back inside, I heard Eddie yelling at Mark.

"What the hell are you doing over there for?!" Mark laughed again. "Just being nosy."

When I got into my room, I added Mark's number to my contacts. Basically the rest of my plan for the night was to just chat with Mark, then maybe fall asleep on call with him.

I hope this night never ends..
