Zero was suddenly summoned to a secluded location in Norway. He didn't really mind since it was only one town away from where he lived.
But he did mind waiting, though.
Zero scowled and turned to leave, concluding that it was just a prank call.
"So it was you," Zero turned around and was surprised to see someone with very similar characteristics to him, but darker-skinned with a moustache, come towards him. "Why did you call me here?"
"What do you mean?" Zero frowned. "Someone summoned me here. Was it you?"
Clone Zero frowned too. "Wasn't you?"
"You mean someone called you here too?"
"Yes..."
"So you have come," a third voice said.
The two Zeros turned around to see a hooded man hovering a few feet off the ground, slowly descending.
"I have summoned you here for an important task," Igniz informed, throwing his hood back.
Zero rolled his eyes. "That's it, nice talking to you."
With that, he turned on his heel and started walking away.
"Agent Zero, not so fast," Igniz called.
"I'm no longer your agent, not by a long shot," Zero spat, walking away.
"C. Zero, stop him," Igniz sighed.
"Well, Sayonara. I'm not stopping him, not by a long shot," the moustached man frowned, walking away too. "Peace!"
Igniz sighed. "What if I told you that there's a new tournament?"
The Zeros paused.
"So what?" Original Zero turned around and glared at him. "I got my invitation too. But I don't think I'd like to enter."
"Yeah, like I can't fight without my battle suit," Clone Zero added.
"I thought you fart on people?" The white-haired man couldn't help but remark.
"I have the battle suits ready for you," Igniz chimed in. "Misty and I have recently infiltrated the old NESTS facility in Southtown. It's old and abandoned, we just salvaged whatever we could."
"I have a question," Zero frowned. "K' and Nameless have told me that the base in Deimos is still operating. Is it your doing?"
Igniz shook his head. "It isn't. I wanna go check it out there, but I don't have a spaceship for it."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute," Clone Zero suddenly chimed in. "Are you telling me that you have us our battle suits? Well, where?"
Original Zero sighed. "Are you really a part of me?"
"I have them in the hotel we're staying at," Igniz smirked, ignoring the white-haired man's remark. "Come and I'll show you."
The Zeros looked at each other before turning to Igniz.
"So, you want us to follow you to a place where you can easily kill us or do something sinister?" Clone Zero piped up. "No, no, no, Igniz. I'm not coming."
"For the first time, I agree with you," Original Zero agreed. "How do we know you don't have hidden intentions?"
"Zero, quick!" A child's voice called from the car Original Zero's car. "It's really boring!"
"Yeah, Zero!" Another child added. "Your phone is running out of battery too!"
"You have children?" Clone Zero asked in surprise.
"I'm taking care of them," Zero sighed. He turned to the car and called. "I'll be there in a minute, kids."
Igniz chuckled. "You never changed, have you?"
"Can I go now?" Zero frowned. "I don't wanna join the tournament, especially not with you."
"Oh come on, it's gonna be fun," Igniz smirked. "A new tournament! It's been years!"
"Yeah, what he said!" Clone Zero chimed in. "Come on, Original! Let's do this! You got the invite too, right? We can be a team!"
Zero sighed. "Fine, but I heard that K' and Krizalid would be there? Don't you owe them an explanation?"
"Yeah, well-" Clone Zero stopped short, staring at him with wide eyes. "Nope, nope. I ain't comin' if those two are."
"Ah yes, there's Nameless—he named himself Zayn or something now, then K9999—calls himself Krohnen McDougall, then Maxima, Foxy, Diana, then... oh! That Kula girl is also there!" Igniz added, grinning. "She froze the entirety of your 'Zero Cannon', didn't she?"
"Looks like it really is a Zero Cannon," Original smirked. "From hero to Zero."
"Mee Saye Zero," Igniz continued. "Doesn't that mean Moustache in Tamil or something? Or was it Malay?"
"It's both," Clone Zero sighed. "I named myself after the Moustache, just changed the spelling."
Original Zero chuckled. "I still can't believe you were cloned from me."
"So are you joining?" Igniz asked, knowing full well that he changed his mind.
Zero gave his clone the side-eye and smirked. "Sure. How do we register? I've never really done this before..."
"Neither have I..." Clone Zero shrugged.
Igniz frowned. "Can you guys help me? I've never done it either...""Zero, I think you have to click here," Sarah, one of the children that came with Original Zero, said as she clicked on an icon that read register team. "Now it's asking for some... invitation number?"
The three men handed her the invitations that they received. Sarah frowned at them and read them while Darrell typed them out on Igniz's laptop.
"You know, it's actually embarrassing that a child knows better about this thing than we do?" Clone Zero stated, stuffing his face with Krumkake. "By the way, this krumy thing is really good. Where can I get some more?"
"In the shop downstairs," Igniz sighed. He sat up slightly to see if the registration was done. "Zero, are you sure those kids are doing it correctly?"
"Yeah, they're like five years old," Clone Zero added, still crunching on the Krumkake.
"Oh, why don't you do it, then?" Original Zero pointed at the laptop. "Kids, these guys wanna do it instead."
Igniz and Clone Zero instantly started protesting, saying how good the children were with computers.
"Zero, what's this... KOF?" Sarah asked, frowning at the screen. "Is it... cough?"
"No, it's King of Fighters," Zero explained. "It's a fighting competition where the winner will be crowned the King of Fighters. You can enter in a team of three."
Sarah and Darrell looked over at the other two men.
"Are these guys your teammates?" Darrell asked in surprise.
Original Zero nodded. "Yep. That's Igniz, and that's... Mee Saye." He held back a laugh when he introduced the latter.
"Hi!" The children greeted, grinning.
"Can I ask you something?" Darrell asked, pointing at Igniz.
"What is it?" Igniz smirked.
"Are you a white-haired vampire?" Darrell asked, tilting her head in confusion. "Seriously, you're so white!"
"Whiter than Zero!" Sarah added.
Misty chuckled and entered the room, holding two suit bags. She handed one to each of the Zeros.
"Here are your battle suits," Misty said, dusting her fingers off. "Also, what's taking you guys so long?"
"We're trying to register ourselves into KOF," Igniz sighed. He turned to children and frowned. "Are you guys done?"
"It says registration failed," Darrell frowned at the screen before turning to them. "Maybe we pressed the wrong button or something."
Misty sighed and went to the laptop instead. The children decided to help her by reading the details on the invitations.
"There, it's done," Misty announced. "Seriously, you guys have never done this before?"
The three men averted their gazes, with Igniz even whistling.
"And you call yourselves NESTS Bosses?" Misty asked in surprise, seeing how they named their team that.
"Hey, it's because bosses never register," Clone Zero chimed in. "Because... we're the bosses."
"He's got a point," Zero agreed. "But Igniz was never the boss, only when the tournament came."
Igniz grimaced but smiled sheepishly at his girlfriend.
Misty sighed. "Fine, we're done here. You guys can leave."
"Can I take this with me?" Clone Zero asked, shaking the packet of mini Krumkake. "It's really good."
"Seriously, even the children didn't steal our food, but you did?" Misty asked in surprise. "And you're forty-four?"
"Because Zero teached us to not steal other people's things even if we don't have them ourselves," Darrell chimed in proudly.
Zero smirked at his clone, motioning his eyes towards the little girl. "And you call yourself my clone? Disgraceful..."
Clone Zero rolled his eyes and blew at his moustache, stuffing his face with more Krumkake. "I don't care. The disgrace is for you, not me."
He waved at them and left, with the Krumkake.
"Seriously... I was gonna save that for breakfast," Misty grimaced, shaking her head.
"Well, he did try to steal the world," Igniz shrugged. "What's to say that he won't steal food?"
Original Zero smirked, taking the children's hands in his. "I'll be looking forward to the tournament. Especially to see Moustache's face when the others disturb him. They have nothing against me, I know that."
"Me too," Igniz added with a nod. "They hunted me down, but left me alone when I told them that I had no bad intentions."
"It's getting late," Misty subtly shooed. "We need to get dinner."
Zero shrugged and left with the children, bidding farewell. He had a lot of things to do at the orphanage, anyway.
