"Aiko, what happened to you?" Iori asked, amused. He nudged her elbow slightly while driving. "Oi!"
"I can't believe it," Aiko murmured.
"You can't believe what?"
"I can't believe that they invited me!" Aiko exclaimed excitedly. "Niisan! Do you know what this means?!"
"It means... you're invited to enter KOF?"
"No!" Aiko said, much to his surprise. "I mean, yes! But it also means that I'm worthy to fight in KOF!"
Iori rolled his eyes. "Seriously? Aiko, you were always worthy of entering KOF. Just that, you never bothered to enter."
Aiko frowned. "Well, you never bothered to ask me." She countered.
This was true, considering Aiko never knew that he entered the tournament until he appeared on tv.
"Fine..." Iori sighed. "But... I'm afraid you can't be on my team this time, Aiko..."
"Why?" Aiko gasped. Then she remembered that Chizuru had already asked him. "Oh... never mind..."
"Yeah, sorry..." Iori apologised. "I didn't know they'd invite you too."
Aiko sulked the rest of the way home. She just leaned against the door and looked out the window as they drove down the streets of Shibuya.Iori was surprised to see a gold Lamborghini Veneno parked in front of their house. He knew who it belonged to, but wondered why the owner was visiting.
"Aiko, why is your boyfriend here?" Iori asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," Aiko shrugged, looking at the car. "Why is he here?"
Iori rolled his eyes and pulled over in front of their home. Aiko got out and went towards him while Iori went to park in the garage.
"Hey Beni," Aiko greeted her boyfriend with a hug. "What brings you here?"
Benimaru Nikaido smirked and held up a familiar envelope. "Your brother's in another team. Why don't you enter with me?"
"Then who's the third person?" Aiko asked, confused. "There's supposed to be three, right?"
"Yeah," Benimaru nodded. "Shingo's coming along since Goro has other plans."
Aiko lit up. "Okay! I was a little sad that Niisan already had teammates. But now you..."
"You were actually thinking about entering?" Benimaru asked in surprise.
Aiko grinned and showed him her own invitation. "I was invited too."
Benimaru was so happy that he actually carried her. He quickly put her down and cleared his throat when Iori walked up to them with a scowl.
"So, you're joining with Aiko?" Iori asked, his arms crossed. "Well, I'm surprised. Normally, you're sucking up to the protagonist."
Benimaru smirked. "There is no protagonist in this tournament, Yagami."
"I know..." Iori rolled his eyes. "Also, is that friend of yours even getting invited? I've gotten mine, and so did Aiko. If he doesn't, I'm taking her into my team instead."
Benimaru nodded. "He did. It came with a skewer, together with his shioyaki."
The Yagamis, burst into laughter when he said this.
"How did you get yours?" Aiko asked with a chuckle.
"Hit me in the face as soon as I stepped out of my house," Benimaru frowned. "What about you?"
They told him about the ninjas and how they beat them up.
"How come I don't get the cool ones..." Benimaru sighed. "Whatever, meet us tomorrow morning, Aiko. We need to register for the tournament."
Aiko nodded and gave him a goodbye kiss before entering the house with her brother.
"So, it's another tournament," Iori said, placing his shoes on the rack. "By the way, beware! There are gonna be lots of weirdos. It's not like they're gonna be a problem to you, but they can get really irritating." He smirked. "So try not to kill anyone in the process, okay?"
Aiko rolled her eyes, putting her dress shoes on the rack. "Seriously, Niisan?"
"What, it's true!" Iori pointed out, unlocking the door. "Only I know how much I had to resist strangling some of the idiots that enter KOF in the name of 'championship'."
Aiko snorted, taking her coat off. "Oh, don't worry. I'll do fine."
Iori smiled, scooping his Persian cat, named Yua, that pawed at his feet. "I know you will." He smirked and nudged her. "Wanna train sometime?"
"Of course!" Aiko nodded excitedly, crouching to carry Rio, who was a bobtail cat. "When can we start?"
"Yes!" Iori beamed. "Tomorrow morning."
They agreed to train together the next morning.***
"No, please, no!" A girl with long blonde hair cried in agony as a group of masked scientists forcibly strapped her onto an examination chair. "Let me go! Please! I'll be good, I promise!"
One of the scientists gagged her. She was silenced, but never gave up struggling to free herself.
She suddenly felt a sharp pain in the joint of her arm. She let out a muffled scream as pain shot up from the spot an unknown substance was injected into her.
She felt a sudden surge of energy as she tore the straps away. She ripped the gag off her face and levitated a few feet from the ground. The scientists were all electrocuted by the sudden electromagnetic force that the blonde girl controlled.
"Emergency!" An escaped scientist declared into the wall-mounted intercom. "Subject has gone berserk, send control team immediately!"
A few masked men entered. The blonde girl turned to them angrily, raising her arm to attack them too.
She let out an agonised cry as soon as an electronic whip wrapped around her arm.
"Aargh!" She cried, holding her pained arm.
The electronic whip repeatedly hit her weakened body, over and over again until she couldn't get up. The masked man neared her, his whip still in hand. Tears streamed out of her eyes as he grabbed her hair and raised the whip to her face.
"I want you to remember this day for the rest of your life," the masked man's altered voice said. "Whenever you look at your face, you will remember what happens if you go against NESTS' orders."
He raised the whip and rapidly brought it closer to hit her. The poor girl tightly closed her eyes as she accepted her fate, silently hoping for a miracle to happen.***
Sylvie Paula Paula suddenly woke up on her bed, hyperventilating. She looked at her trembling hands and felt her face, then the rest of her body.
'It... it was all a dream?' Sylvie thought to herself.
She got off the bed and looked at herself in the mirror. She wiped away all the tears and lifted the fringe from her forehead.
A thin line, now barely invisible, still showed diagonally on her forehead. It couldn't exactly be seen, unless one takes a very close look.
'It's still there...' Sylvie sighed, arranging her fringe back over her forehead.
She made her way towards the kitchen to get herself a drink of water before going back to bed.
Sylvie sat on her bed and took her phone to see the time. To her surprise, she noticed a missed call from a very good friend.
Kula Diamond.
'Kula called?' Sylvie wondered, dialling her number to call back.
The phone rang on the other end, and she soon heard her friend's voice.
"Hello!" Kula's cheerful voice answered. "Sylvie?"
"Yeah," Sylvie asked, adjusting her hair. "I called as soon as I noticed. What's up?"
"Sylvie, there's KOF tournament coming up," Kula announced gleefully. "Wanna join my team?"
Sylvie grinned. "By all means. I already got the invitation."
"Yay!" Kula exclaimed excitedly. "I'll come over with Isolde so that we can register."
"Okay!" Sylvie squealed. "See you!"
She hung up and smiled. Another tournament was coming up.
"I'm gonna ace this tourney!" Sylvie cheered aloud.***
K' took his helmet apart and went over to the bathroom to wash it. Krizalid watched him, crunching on his butter sandwich crackers. He nudged Zayn, who looked up at him with a grape half-stuck in his mouth.
"Yo, is Dash gonna enter the tournament or not?" Krizalid asked, munching his biscuits. "He seems more interested in his helmet than entering."
Nameless, who has now been named Zayn, shrugged at him.
"I dunno, Kriz," Zayn said, swallowing his grape. "Wanna ask him?"
They both smirked and went towards the bathroom. They opened the door wider and saw K' painstakingly scrubbing the helmet's padding.
"Oi!" Krizalid called, earning him a scowl from the younger man. "Are you even entering KOF?"
"No." K' said shortly. "Don't want, don't care. You guys can enter if you want."
The two men smirked at each other.
"Okay, then," Zayn shrugged. "Looks like we're entering alone. Our opponents would think that Dash is a coward, for registering but not appearing."
K' looked at him in surprise, dropping his sponge. "What did you just say?"
Krizalid smirked. "We already registered your name in our team. The K' Team!"
"But now it's gonna be the K' team without K'!" Zayn chuckled. "Oh well, at least his clones are entering."
K' groaned, throwing his sponge back into the bucket. "Why does this always happen to me?! All I want is some peace and quiet without some stupid tournament in my hands, but yet, some idiot always registers me in somehow." He scowled. "I'm entering just to show my face, nothing more, nothing less."
"He's lying, he's gonna fight with all he's got," Krizalid whispered to Zayn with a smirk. "Whatever, come on. Let's continue our snacking."
K' watched them leave, his scowl deepening. Instead of smacking Kyo with the dead wasp, he felt like should've done it to these two, with flames instead.
Maxima was joining the tournament too, with Diana and Foxy. Foxy didn't wish to intrude their relationship, but had no choice but to enter when Diana insisted. They were best friends, after all.A/N: the theme I added on top is actually for Benimaru's team, not for the K' team. Just to clear things up lol
