Chapter 28: The More You Know

(Warning: Light BDSM ahead and this is my first time writing a scene like that teehee)

After my dinner with Justin, I called Mina and asked when she was free so that I could talk to her too. This problem that they have will not be resolved in one sitting because they have differing opinions with regard to the matter.

I'm so worried because if I can't help them, it's gonna affect our relationship as friends too and I don't want that. They've had my back since college and now is the time that I have theirs.

Stijn noticed that I'm so caught up with my thoughts and he tried to calm me down.

"Relax, babe. They're gonna be fine. They've been together for years and this seems like a minor misunderstanding."

"That's the thing. I don't think it is just a minor misunderstanding. Mina wants to push forward with their open relationship and the other one doesn't want to. And for now, they aren't changing their minds so this is where I come in. I promised Justin that I will do my best to help them."

"You are being a good friend. But you also have to remember that at the end of the day, it's their decision."

"I know that. I just hope that I can at least do my best to make sure that they stay together."

"Hmmmm. You look so worried so now I'm worried because you might not enjoy what I prepared for you at my place."

"I know."

Then he went silent for a while. It is unusual for him to be quiet and when I looked at him, he looked a bit irritated.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing."

"Okay, now I know you are angry."

"I'm not."

"Is that why you are answering like a child who did not get his Christmas present." I tried to joke to lighten the mood.

"Because...I mentioned that I have a surprise for you back at my place and it's like you didn't even care."

I just laughed. Oh boy, for all the things that I've said about Stijn maturing, he sure still has that kind of pissy attitude when he doesn't get what he wants. I understand him though.

"Oh, babe..." I started. "Of course, I heard that. And thanks for trying to cheer me up. Don't worry, when we're at your place, I'm gonna devote all my attention to you. Okay?" Then I pinched his cheeks.

He looks so adorable when he acts childish. Something that I just learned now.

He took my hand and kissed it. "I just want you to lean on me when things go wrong. I love that you are very supportive of your friends and I would like to be that person for you."

That might be a little too sweet for my taste but hearing it makes me feel a little bit soft inside. Like I feel warm and safe because Stijn is giving me all the assurance.

I just smiled at him while we drove back to his place. I wonder what his surprise could be? I'm sure it's not food because I've already eaten. I also don't think that it's a gift because I've never really asked him for anything. With the process of elimination, I think I know what his surprise is and I can't wait how this turns out.

Colton told me about his dinner with his friend and I knew he was gonna be in a bad mood after so I prepared something special for him. Actually, I prepared two things for him because who doesn't want more options?
