Drishti's POV:
"Are you done?" Rakshit started beating his feet on the well polished plywood, getting super impatient as I took ky sweet time deciding a hairstyle.
"What do think will look good with my clothes? Should I braid them? Curl them? Open them?"
"How about you let me cut them?"
"Rude" I groaned before taking the straighter ignoring all his violent actions- half violent. He was running around telling me he wouldn't have been taking me anywhere if dadi didn't ask for the pictures they would click.
Anyways, ignoring him I continued straighten them and at the end put two straight white glitter clips on the right side, a few centimeters from my ear.
"Perfect! Who says my choice ain't good? Look, I look damn cute" I flung my handbag in the air and threw it on my shoulder. "Lets go Mr. Shergill"
"I am never marrying again in my life" he complained. He gone crazy, lmao.
"Idiot you have me as your lifetime partner" I locked the door and looked at his pathetic face.
"Damn! That's even worse!"
"Wow! So funny, right?!" I clapped in fron of him before grabbing his arm and pulling him to the lift. "Now come on and remember- no work, okay?"
"Woah! You seriously think I'm going to waste my entire time on you? How delusional can you be. You ain't worth my time, never" he laughed while I tried taking it as a joke but that you ain't worth it part got me. "We will be taking the pictures and returning in an hour. Don't expect too much from me. My work is important to me"
"Yeah whatever" as if I would just let you go.
We entered the lift and saw a few Indian girls standing inside. The moment they saw me they screamed in excitement and rushed to meet me. "Oh my god, its Drishti Sharma Shergill!"
A smile formed on my lips seeing their love and craziness for me which made me forget how someone just acted. The girls talked to me for a while and as we got out of the lift they asked me for a picture. Rakshit was already getting hyper and all I could do was pray for him to not burst out and scare my fans.
We clicked a few picture and they left. I looked at Rakshit and smiled "See. People love me oh and thanks for not killing them and being respectful"
"That's what you think of me? I am disrespectful?"
"Isn't that obvious?" I raised my eyebrows at him "Have forgotten what happened at the airport? Or when one caretaker accidentally broke a glass while you were working?"
"That was an exception" he covered it with a genuine look of understanding.
"And what about yestarday night? The poor worker didn't come to drop the food. The manager said he was scared of the way you looked at him. What was his fault?" Yestarday when he was over me and the worker came to drop the food.
"I just got angry"
"Poor fella" I sighed "You are mannerless"
"Ok I am! Happy now?" He sighed.
"You should be really proud of me"
"Why?" He replied.
"Because I am good and I am successful too" I patted my back and looked at him with hope brimming in my eyes.
"Good" That's it? That's all he got? I mean- I didn't expect a speech but a line or two would have been good.
"So, are you proud of me?" He rolled his eyes and took out his phone to ignore me. I stood silently beside him, half nervous, half insulted and as usual ignored.
Maybe he didn't say anything because we were married just a week ago.
I was being super impatient because nobody ever said that to be and making someone proud, hearing that they felt it cuz of me was a constant craving of my heart. It was only Divya who was told by our parents that they were proud of her. Never me, hah.
"Rakshit-" I tried resting my hand on his shoulder.
"Hello, Vinay" he moved before my hand could touch him. The feeling of being ignored wasn't something I never faced before. Even in my group of friends I was the one most intimated by them. But they all were good enough to still stick with me and encourage me.
"No problem" I whispered on my own and started roaming in the garden till he finished his call. He came to me unbothered by how long he kept me waiting.
"I'm going to the room for work. You can go wherever you want to" he walked a step backwards but stopped when feeling my hold on his shirt.
"But Rakshit, we were supposed to spend some time and visit the places together, right?"
"What?" He looked at me like it was nothing to him "You know I was just coming with you because dadi asked for pictures. I would have gone to the room straight but I came to inform you, shouldn't you be happy about it?"
"But Rak-"
"Mrs. Shergill please. Your life is all shiny but mine is not. I have to work and too with dedication and concentration. So please" and he left- simply went away.
The first thing I did was seeing everywhere around me to check if someone saw us. When I was sure nobody did, I bowed my head and pulled out the clips from my hair to let my hair fall on my front face and cover it. I sat on the garden bench and thought about his words.
He thinks my life was perfect.
I laughed at his idea and let all the memeories come back to me. Fame is not happiness, and non stars kids go through a lot to reach that in the film industry. A tear escaped my eyes as the thoughts of my childhood, my teenage and a part of my adulthood played in my mind.
And if I didn't give up then, I would not give up now too.
I thought for a few minutes before smiling at the sky and thanking god for blessing me with that amount of intelligence and creativity.
"Let's see how he would say a no"
