Chapter 7: Ranger Fun: Part 1
Tommy was coming back into the cabin from his run when a screech filled the air. Bracing himself, he caught the little ball of energy running past him.
"Caught ya!" She giggled, "Where are you running off to, little Eden?"
"She's running from me." Emily came over with a towel, "She had a little accident with breakfast, so we're trying to get a quick bath in."
"What's the point? She's just going to get dirty again once everybody get's here." Zoey said coming in behind her brother, "With the Space Ranger's kids joining in the fun this year, there's going to be plenty of people for her to play with."
"Yeah," Tommy handed to squirming kid over to her mom, "Karone and Zhane usually stay on KO-35 with the kids. It's a little uncomfortable for her to be on Earth, after everything, but we talked her into coming this year."
"She would only agree to come to the lake. Zhane participated in the festivities this week, but she stayed on the ship with the kids." Jason came in, carrying Aeson like a football, "Baby steps. Alright, Eden. Bath time. You'll get another tonight to clean off the sand that I am 99% sure you will have all over you."
They watched as Emily carted Eden down the hall to her torturous bath. Jason turned back to the siblings, "It's 7:30 in the morning. I know why we're awake. We've got twin alarm clocks who love going into the bathroom and playing with anything they can get their 3-year old hands on. But it's summer vacation. What are you two doing running at this hour?"
"I'm forgetful enough as it is." Tommy said as they walked into the kitchen, "I've got to keep myself on schedule or my first year as a teacher is not going to start off well."
Laughing, Jason put his son in his high chair and got them some milk, "Knowing you man, your principal is going to give you detention on the first day for being late."
"Don't jinx him." Zoey got out ingredients to make smoothie bowls, "Anyone want one?" At their nods she started mixing fruit, "He's got to stay on top of his game. He's going to have me, Jenna and Andy living with him this year. He's going to have his hands full."
When they heard what sounded like a siren go off in the girl cabin, Zoey grabbed the boys to stop them from running out, "It's alright. The girls will stop it. We obviously didn't find all of them. They went off again yesterday, but we thought we found them all."
"That's the alarms the Andy and Justin set up in your cabin?" Hayley asked, hands over her ears, "I'm going to kill them."
"Not if the other girls don't get to them first." Jason said as they saw Andy and Justin run past the cabin window, said girls close on their heels, "You'd think they'd learn by now."
"To be fair, they helped us track them down yesterday. They sincerely thought they had gotten them all." They took a breath as the sound stopped, "Good. One of the other boys must have found it. Oops." Zoey looked out side to see the boys trying to get out of the water, "Looks like Tori went full Water Ninja on them."
They started to laugh when they saw wave after wave of water rush over the two offending boys, "I better go out there and put a stop to it. We need to start getting things cleaned up and ready to go for the day." Tommy started to walk out, "You know, since we're all up anyways. I might have those two go ahead and dig the fire pit for the bonfire."
Shaking his head, Jason accepted his smoothie bowl, "He's my best friend. Been that way almost from the first day he joined the team. I've seen him change many colors and take down monster after monster. He was my best man at my wedding, and I couldn't have asked for a better godfather for my kids. He is the first person I would trust to protect my family from some life altering event." He took a bit and looked at the smiling Fire Ninja, "But, to this day, he could still channel bits of the Evil Green Ranger." He shook his head as she laughed. "It's both frightening and awe inspiring at the same time."
