Because Flo and the Queen brought their bug along, too, we had to bugs to take to Japan. Flo drove one and Miep drove the other. I was in the one with Miep. The ladies fired up he cars and lifted them into the air. Then they stepped on the gas and the Beige Volkswagen Beetles shot off towards Japan.

Time Skip brought to you by meh. Because meh.

A few hours later, we were over the lovely island of Japan.

"Oh hey! I was just there a couple of thousand years ago!" Jordan exclaimed.

"So how did you get to Vegas?" Mr. DeSal asked.

"Well, there was this guy and I killed his bush and... yeah."

"Well, what about Betty and Batman?"

"I don't know what happened to them. All I know is that the guru we met was really weird."

"Well, maybe they'll turn up with Ellen."

"Yeah maybe."

Then Miep landed the car on a grassy hill with a Japanese dogwood on the top. It was in full bloom with pink flowers growing from it's branches. currently, the sun was setting.

Flo landed the other bug right next to us and we got out.

We looked around at each other, our surroundings so quiet that we were afraid to break the silence.

Then, together, we walked down the hill into the surrounding dogwood forest.

Time skip brought to you by Paul Blart: Mall Cop, because Kevin James is awesome!

A while later, when we were standing in a small clearing in the forest, there was a bright flash of light. We all looked up to see a beige Volkswagen Beetle floating down from the sky. When it landed, Batman and Betty got out. Their eyes went straight to Jordan.

"Jordan!" Betty exclaimed, "Thank Gertrude you're okay!"

Betty came over and hugged Jordan. Awkwardly. Mostly because Jordan was involved.

Next, Batman came up to Miep with a sly smile on his face.

"Hey, Moop, long time, no see," he said, "So how's my honey-pie?"

"Batman, knock it off," Miep rolled her eyes as she said this.

"Yeah!" Jordan exclaimed, "Don't you know she's married?"

"Nonsense!" Batman exclaimed, "Moop is as single as I!"

Miep and Jordan sighed. How thick-headed could Batman possibly be?

"Never mind, everyone. Let us continue our search for Miss Ellen," Miep declared, and we began walking again.

Time skip brought to you by William Shakespeare. Mostly because I'm running out of ideas for time skips.

By this time, it was dark and we were standing in the heart of a city. Betty believed it to be Tokyo, but Flo was skeptical.

We were roaming the side-streets which were surprisingly empty. Perhaps... to empty.

As we walked past a dark alleyway, Jordan pointed. Straight into the alley. Something was in there.

Miep drew her gun and, together, her, Mr. DeSal, and me entered. We looked cautiously around. Then, all of a sudden, I was pulled into the shadows. Nobody noticed.

Unable to cry for help because of the hand over my mouth, I listened to the words that were being whispered in my ears: "Matt, she's looking for me!"

Ellen's voice.

I tried to reply to her, but her hand was still over my mouth. Because of that, all that came was "Mpf."

"What's that?" she said, "Oh, yeah." She removed her hand.

"Who?" I was finally able to mutter.

"Her."

"Yeah, but who's 'her?'"

"The Slit-Mouthed Woman."

Neither of us said another word.

Then Miep poked her head into the little place under the dumpster we were sitting in.

"Ellen! There you are! Are you okay?" she inquired.

Ellen shook her head.

"Well, why not, my dear?"

"The Slit-Mouthed Woman." The words were even more ominous than the first time.

"Oh, nonsense! That's just a legend! Here, let me help you out."

Ellen held out her hand to Miep and was pulled from her hiding place. Then I pulled myself out behind.

All of a sudden, there was a woman. She approached us. As she came closer, I noticed how beautiful she was. And that she wore a surgical mask. She walked straight up to me.

"Am I pretty?" she asked.

"Of course!" I replied without hesitation.

Then she removed the mask. And I saw why she wore it. Her mouth was nothing but a slit, stretching from one ear to the other.

Then she asked Ellen.

"Am I pretty?"

Ellen stood in terror.

Once again, she asked: "Am I pretty?"

I remembered this part of legend well. If she replied no, she will be killed. If yes, her mouth will be slit like the woman's.

Then the reply came, but it was too quiet to tell what was said.

Next, the woman grabbed my friend by the neck and ran off. Miep pulled the gun and fired a shot in the chaos, hitting the "legend" in the head, doing absolutely nothing.

What was her answer? We all wanted Ellen to survive, but we were still afraid. If her mouth was a slit, how could we lay eyes on our friend again?

But for now, we were alone.

We all were afraid to know what she said, whatever it might have been.
