Chapter 3

When Link awoke, he did not remember much. He mind was blurry, as well as his eye sight, and his head was throbbing painfully, making him automatically rest the palm of his hand on his head. He sat where ever he was for a few moments before even bothering to move or study his surroundings. He opened his eyes wider and his sight soon turned quite normal. Then, he could see that he was somewhere like a cell. Each brick of the wall was old, you could tell, and was covered with moss with a few damp areas in each corner of the room. A few centimetres in front of him were bars, looking strong, firm and almost impossible to move. There was no windows in this place, nor where there any signs of escaping at all. The smell of urine was certainly not helping either.

Was he captured?

It took him another view moments to review over what happened. The mysterious man went right into my mind. He looked exactly like him, but how? It must've been a dream, it must have. But then why did he wake up here? Imprisoned? Perhaps his doppleganger captured him...

Link's mind grew fuzzy with all the over thinking. The cell he was in seemed familiar too, yet he took no notice in it. In his head, he was turning paranoid and had to avoid all these thoughts or he'd simply go mad. But, the image of this boy haunted him. He looked exactly like him; no exaggeration included. And those words, the words Link's attacker spoke:

"I know you; a lot. The same may not be said with you but... you will see very soon. Then you'll know me..."

Link frowned. He was just making himself very confused.

He shook it off, and tried to stand. No use. The chain around his ankle, which he did not notice until now, rattled in disagreement with his actions, forcing him to pout and sit back down, thinking over what to do next. Where ever he was, he knew he had to get out. Besides, when was waking up in a cell with a chain around you a good thing?

Maybe he had to wait for someone to help him, like what happened in those fairytales his mother always used to read to him when he was just a kid. You would think thinking about her would be a good idea and keep his spirits up, but this actually was not the case. Picturing her pale skin, blonde  hair, blue eyes and pretty face saddened him. It didn't used to be like this, no, but after what happened...

In the distance, Link could hear muffles of voices and footsteps, knocking him out of his thoughts. His pricked up his pointy Hylian ears and tried his hardest to listen out and see if he could identify the people, but to no prevail. The muffles and footsteps soon turned louder by the second, therefore, making what they were saying getting clearer as well. Link could make out words, however only some. It was definitely a conversation between two people; two males in fact.

The word "traitor" was mentioned a lot in their speech, as well as "yeah", "king", "murderer" and "unexpected". When the two men drew nearer, the last sentence they spoke, loud and clear, was:

"Well, we better go and check up on him."

Two men stopped in front on the other side of the bars, eyes narrowed down at Link. He could only stare back and say nothing, just in case. What highly confused him was the fact that the knights were wearing Hylian armour, and instead of being thankful that he didn't get kidnapped, he could only think of why he was imprisoned...in an Hylian cell. Yet, he bit his tongue and remained quiet.

"Did little traitor enjoy his beauty sleep?" One of the knights sneered.

Traitor?

"What?" Link said in return.

"Stop it, Reer," said the other knight to his friend. "We don't actually know if he's a traitor or not yet. The King decides himself."

"I don't care." snapped the knight called Reer back. "I bet on my life that he is the traitor. There has always been something weird about him."
