Chapter 2

The warm embrace of the fire was very pleasing to Link after having to ride through the stormy and cold weather to reach where he was right now. The first thing he did inside his home was of course removing his boots in a lazily manner, then make his way towards his "attic". It was not necessarily an attic to be honest though, as it was just stairs leading down to the lower floor of the home. But due to the junk left lying around this room and the dim light, Link decided to call it that. Despite the mess the attic was however, his probably most loved possession was there. It stood at the far end of the attic; you could barely see it but it was definitely there. You could tell by the little glint of shine coming from it:

His armour for work.

No matter how he would be feeling, looking at it made Link smile. Was it because of the aura surrounding it? Link did not know, but just by glancing at his armour reminded him of his beloved job he had. He walked towards it slowly and removed the armour from the mannequin carefully and gingerly, then next he carried his precious clothes out of the attic and into the higher part of his house and into a room, where, he put the protective clothing on.

It looked great on him. Silver was the right colour and matched Link's blonde hair and blue eyes. The armour made him look more built, which they were probably designed to do so no-one would think of attacking him. Link held the shiny helmet in his hands and stared at it for a while, taking in the details and patterns on it. (The Triforce was sitting at the top of it, as expected.) He then placed the helmet above his head and looked at his mirror to see what he looked like. It was hard to see out of the helmet but it was enough to see an opponment in combat while not being too exposed to enemies.

Then, at that moment, Link glanced outside the window. It was still raining. He gave a big sigh and headed out of his house with a rich but rusty blade at his waist.

Outside, the clouds tears fell from the sky and fell on the wet ground with a tender noise. The puddles which were formed earlier were now wider and deeper than before and Epona snorted loudly with annoyance. It didn't seem like she liked the rain, as well as not having shelter to keep herself from getting wet.

"Sorry girl..." Link murmured whilst mounting her saddle. He gave her a reassuring pat on the head as an apology and then pulled her reigns to get her trotting.

It was only after a few minutes when Link eventually arrived at Hyrule Castle Town. He dismounted Epona in a stable which was then followed by him making his way to his post. This time, his post was moved on top of a building to keep watch for trespassers or a certain murderer about. Was he going to see the murderer though? Franz seemed rather certain that he would, but Link thought he was just too worked up over revenge. But...if he was to actually see the murderer, what would he do?

Franz was a kind, serious individual but there was no doubt that he'd just rush towards the murderer with no thoughts. The killer did kill his brother afterall and his personality had changed a bit because of this; short-tempered, rather paranoid. Link was worrying, and he had a reason to.

He climbed a ladder to a roof and readied his fingers next to his sword just in case he had to use it at some point. He hoped not, and probably wouldn't with the only rare occassions he had to in the past. There was this one time, when a theif stole money from an elderly woman's purse and took a run for it. He stabbed a knight when he tried to stop him, which angered Link more than slightly, making him leave his post and chase the theif himself. It took concentration to do so, and speed. He had to keep his eyes fixed on the criminal as the big crowds of people in town at daytime could make him lose him. He couldn't afford that. In the end, the robber encountered a dead end in a valley. Link would've spared his life and simply take him to jail, but that was when the burglar attempted to strike, leaving Link with no choice. He had to kill him.
