Y/n POV:

"Wait, what are we doing?" I ask, clueless. Camilo also looked confused, but he laughed at me.

Mirabel sighed. "You don't need to sing, just introduce yourselves!" She said exasperatedly.

"Oh, ok." I say. I turn to Angelo and Sofia. "Hi, I'm Y/n." I say awkwardly, trying to be upbeat.

Camilo laughed, and stuck his hand out to Angelo. "Camilo Madrigal, I'm Mirabel's older cousin." He said with ease. "By a few months." Mirabel said, annoyed, and rolled her eyes.

Angelo shook his hand. "Angelo De La Fayette. This is my twin sister, Sofia. Don't mind her, she's embarrassing." He said and laughed.

Him and Camilo let go of each other's hands, and Angelo held his hand out to me.

I took his hand, expecting to shake hands. Instead, he lifted my hand to his mouth and kissed my hand.

He let go and I slowly took my hand back. Noticing the looks we were all giving him, he shrugged. "I'm just being polite." He said.

Sofia scoffed. Camilo nudged me and rolled his eyes, and then stuck his hand out to Sofia.

She shook it. "Cami-" He started but she cut him off. "Camilo Madrigal, I know. You're really cute, y'know?" She asked.

He immediately let go of her hand and Angelo sent her a look. "Um, thanks? I kinda already knew that." Camilo said, trying to shut down her flirting but she just smiled at him.

Angelo rolled his eyes. "Stop being embarrassing." He whispered to her. "How old are you two?" Mirabel asked. "We're sixteen." Angelo and Sofia said in unison.

Then they looked disgusted that they said it together. "Well, Camilo's fifteen, and so am I, and so is Y/n." Mirabel said.

"Oh, and Camilo will be sixteen in a week." Mirabel added. Camilo glared at her, and Sofia took her chance.

"Oh, that's so cool! I wouldn't want to miss that! Do you mind if I come?" She asked.

Before Camilo could say anything, she answered her own question. "Ok, thanks for letting me come. Now, where is my room?" She asked.

I sighed. Oh god, what was she doing? Angelo stomped on her foot, and she looked at him angrily. "What?!" She asked.

"You can't just invite yourself to other people's birthdays!" He said. They argued a bit, and me and Camilo shared a look.

While Mirabel was trying to stop them bickering, me and Camilo slipped away.

Once Mirabel, Angelo and Sofia were out of our sight and earshot, we started laughing.

"I'm gonna get into so much trouble when Abuela finds out I left them." Camilo said.

I shrugged. "What do you think of them?" I ask. "Apart from him kissing your hand, Angelo seems okay. I'm still not over him kissing your hand though. Moving on to Sofia. No." He said and I laughed.

"No?" I ask. "Just a simple no?" He shrugged. "That's all I'm going to say about her. No." He said.

"What about you? What do you think?" He asked me. I thought back to the meeting, which was around five minutes ago.

I remember the stabs of jealousy I felt when Sofia called Camilo cute, or when she said she wanted him, or when she invited herself to his birthday.

I ignored it, passing it off as being a protective best friend. "Angelo seems okay. Definitely better than his sister. And Sofia? I agree with you. No." I say.

"So, what are we going to do now?" Camilo asked, stopping. "I'm not sure." I say and shrug. "Whatever you want to do."

I looked around and we were close to my house, and I remember my half finished painting.

I wanted to finish it, so I didn't have to stress about it later on. "Camilo, you should probably go home. I don't want you getting in trouble." I say.

It was an excuse, but it was also true. I didn't want him to get in trouble because of me.

"It's no problem, hermosa. Really. I don't mind, I just want to spend time with you." Camilo said.

I felt my cheeks heat up. "Camilo, I really don't want to get you into trouble because of me. And I think Mirabel will need help with Sofia." I say, knowing he'd take any opportunity to help Mirabel.

He sighed. "Fine. I'll come over tonight. Through your window, of course." He says.

"Yeah, that doesn't sound creepy at all." I say sarcastically and he laughs. "Adiós, mi hermosa." He says.

He kissed my cheek and walked away. I stood rooted in place, and my cheek felt warm.

Oh god, what was happening to me? I snapped out of my face and walked home happily.

I walk through the front door with a big smile on my face. "What's that smile for?" My Mami asked.

I shook my head. "Nothing." I say. I know she didn't believe me, but she didn't say anything else about it.

"So, did you meet the kids today?" She asked and I was momentarily confused.

"Oh, them!" I say, realizing she's talking about Angelo and Sofia. "I met them just before actually. They're twins named Angelo and Sofia De La Fayette."

"Those are nice names." Mami complimented. "Are they nice?" She asked.

"Eh, they seem okay, but I just met them, Mami. I'm not sure what to say about them." I told her, even though I had a million words for Sofia. And no, they were not kind

She nodded. "Well, we're going to the Madrigal's tonight for dinner, and the De La Fayette's are staying at the Madrigal's, so they will be at dinner as well. This is your chance to make more friends!" She said excitedly.

"Actually, I think Julieta said that Angelo and Sofia will be staying in Camilo's room, because he had the most room." She said, but I only heard one thing.

Sofia will be staying in Camilo's room. After I process this, the smile immediately drops from my face. "WHAT?!"
