Making it right

The next morning I woke up on the ground. I fell asleep crying, great. I sighed and stood up, my back was hurting like crazy, but I didn't care for a bit. I started cleaning my room and once I was done I took a shower, dressed up and went downstairs. Everyone looked at me, Mami looked worried so I just smiled.

- What's up with y'all?

- Nothing, we just wanted to know how you were doing after what happened... (M)

- I'm fine, actually I was on my way to apologize to Abuela about the mess I made the other day

I smiled. I know it seems surprising but I thought about it and I know it's the best I can do to make things better, at least for my family. Because of me they can't even go to their best friend's house. I can't either, but I don't care at this point. He's not alone anyway. I chased away these thoughts, now is not the time.

- You don't have to! Alma is the one that-

I cut Luna off.

- I know. But what I also know is that this is kind of her town, so if we don't want to make our lives difficult I have to.

I didn't give them time to speak and left. I know their ego would stop them from doing such a thing. As I'm smiling at our neighbor I start to rush to the casita. Some people are giving me judgy looks so I'm guessing my little fight with Alma didn't stay a private matter. I ignored them and kept going.

A few minutes later I'm in front of the casita. I'm regretting every single choice I made in my life right now. I was seriously considering going back home, but before I knew it, I was in the kitchen while everyone was eating breakfast. Thank you Casita... Obviously Camilo was sitting next to Sofia. Great. I held my anger as much as I could and realized the Madrigal and their guest were staring at me.

- Hum, hi, I came to see...

Abuela immediately cuts me out, what a good start.

- Camilo? I told you you weren't welcome here anymore.

- Actually, I came to see-

I got cut out again, by Angelo this time.

- Me? You missed me already? How sweet

He smiled as I was trying not to punch him. Can't he keep his mouth shut? I noticed Camilo looked like he wasn't feeling good, but decided to ignore it.

- Another wrong guess. I'm here for Alma, I need to talk to her.

Mirabel raised an eyebrow, probably wondering what I had in mind. I'll tell her later... Alma stood up.

- I'll be back. Y/N follow me please.

- Right away!

I waited a second and grabbed an arepa.

- My back hurts- Thanks Julieta!

I smiled and followed Alma into her room while eating. The pain magically disappeared as always. I felt like I could do this now.

When we got in her room she locked the door. This didn't really reassure me, but I didn't say anything about it, everyone knew where I was anyway and Dolores could hear us.

- Sit and tell me what this is all about.

- I came here to apologize... What I did was wrong. I know it. I shouldn't have raised my voice. I know you just want to be a good host and I messed it up. I also shouldn't have questioned what you were doing for your family. You're the one that knows best.

I don't think a word of it, she's the one who's wrong. But it would only make matters worse to say it.

- Great, I accept your apologies. However, I still want you away from my grandson. Did you hear me? If you keep interfering he'll never fall for Sofia, which is the best for him.

I knew this was coming, she just never made it so clear before. I kept smiling and just agreed with her. She unlocked the door and we went back to the kitchen. Abuela immediately gave Dolores a threatening look, she didn't say anything and kept eating while Abuela smiled. What a witch...

- Me and Y/N had a talk, everything is fine now.

She then turned to me.

- You can go back to your house and tell your family that you are all invited to dinner tonight.

- Yes Alma

- Oh, you can call me Abuela!

Oh can I now? Only when you want, huh? You b-

- Sure, Abuela.

I smiled and noticed Mirabel finished eating

- Can Mira come with me? It's been a while since I last spent time with her!

- Sure, Mirabel, go with your friend.

Mirabel nodded and followed me outside

- Drop the act. What happened?

Mirabel noticed I was kind of hesitant and she smiled a little

- Don't worry about Dolores, she won't tell since she's on your side

- God, I thought I was gonna explode. First, I had to lie to your grandma's hypocrite face without punching her, which was hard enough. Angelo acting like I love him? Hell no. And Sofia? I swear someday I'll hit her. Why is she always next to Camilo? By the way, what's up with him? He's the one that fucked our relationship up and now he's acting all sad? How dare he?

Mirabel burst out laughing, which made me smile a little. God I missed her.

- Okay, okay! I knew you were mad, but not that much! Let's have fun today so you can survive tonight okay? I don't think Angelo wanted to make you mad though, he's just flirty

- Well, I don't like it

- Yeah, that's because you'd rather have Camilo flirting with you

I know she wanted to tease me, but I guess this is going to be the way I tell her

- Of course, it's always better when the person you love flirts with you!

- Yeah- WAIT WHAT?

I smiled a little

- Guess I realized it too late...

- Everything is gonna get better, I promise

- Not sure about that

I sighed and realized we were finally home. We walked in and explained what happened to my family, not the bad part though. I just told them that the apologies went well and that we were now invited for dinner. They hugged me and I went to my room with Mirabel.
