Alrighty! I got my ingredients for essential spells and potions. All I need to do is just find Axo and all that. I walked around the village market for a bit longer. I couldn't really find them. I told them to meet me in an hour or something. Where did they go?
I walked around for a bit longer. As time went by, the less crowded it was, the more seconds wasted. I started getting worried for my friends. I walked along the walls in order to find the missing people.
"...need to get back.", I heard from the distance, "He's expecting us to meet back with him!"
I leaned against the wall to listen to the conversation.
"That's not the point right now.", said another voice, "We're lacking our jobs again. We need to get back on task and stray him away."
"They're right. You were close to exposing us before.", a third voice said, "You've been on this job longer than my yet my skills are more advanced than yours."
The first voice scoffed. "The king and queen were this close to exposing our jobs! What else do you need me to do? I'm doing everything I can to help you guys to return the favour of my rescue."
"I get that you want to protect Chiro and the people who saved you. But we cannot make anymore mistakes."
My eyes widened at the mention of my name. I slowly peaked over the wall and saw the most tragic event appear before me. Rantaro, Tenko and Bade. It was them? This whole time.. I trusted these people only to be betrayed? What a load of bullshit. Why would they betray me? Why would anyone try to be friends with me in the first place? I'm useless. No one cares about me. It's always about what happened to them, isn't it?
Haha.. This fucking life of mine was just a waste. But Tenko, of all people, would betray me? Because she wanted to pay back her rescuers. What a fucking shitty lie. The funny thing is I befriended an axolotl, a vampire and a fellow fire mage. Great. Who else was there for me? No one. Might as well end life right now in the woodlands. No one would care, right? Right? Right??? No one.. would care.... right?
I stood dumbfounded, facing the grass while I let my hair cover my eyes. The steps of the so called friends of mine became louder and louder. I quickly left and returned to the place where we were meant to meet at. I waited for about 5 minutes.
"Chichi!" I saw the 'cheerful' axolotl skip towards me.
I placed a fake smile. "Axo! What did you do with Rantaro and Bade?"
"We bought lots of dumplings and ramen."
After having the conversation, we walked towards to woodlands to continue our- No. My quest. I kept a straight face along the way.
"Chichi? Are you ok?" Tenko asked.
"Of course I am! But I wonder if you know what it's like being betrayed."
We stopped walking and we all stayed silent. Rantaro and Bade's faces horrified, Tenko's face looking all dark. He lifted his head up and made a terrified face.
"Who betrayed you Chichi?!" He cried.
"I don't know.", I sighed sarcastically, "I mean- they just wanted to return the favour of their rescuers..." I grit my teeth saying the last part, my fist in pain from my nails daggering through my skin. I attempted to resist the urge of just raging.
"How long have you known...?", Tenko asks. He tilted his head as he stared into my soul, his voice in a serious tone. The same one I talking to Kazuha! I knew that voice was familiar! But Tenko... Why?
"When you three were speaking in the alley.", I replied with my voice trailing off.
We stood in silence before Tenko spoke again. "Guess there's no use of explaining anything anymore. As you heard between Kazuha and I, I was given the role to prevent the Queen of Diamonds from obtaining the so called 'Sacred Scroll of Cures' and it was my job to stop those who worked for her. You, however, were different from the rest of the people I prevented. And to think I would end up becoming obsessed with you at a time like this."
"You're telling me, my queen could have been saved this whole time?!" I cried out, my voice echoing within the trees, "My kingdom could have been safe right now but no- It was you... YOU GOT IN THE WAY AND EVERYTHING WAS YOUR FAULT! BECAUSE OF YOU MY QUEEN IS DYING! BECAUSE OF YOU MY KINGDOM IS DYING! EVERYTHING IS YOUR DOING! I SHOULD'VE LEFT YOU THE MOMENT YOU STEPPED INTO MY LIFE!"
I stood in anger as I watched Tenko eyes widen, a single tear trailing down his face. I didn't feel anything though. Nothing. It felt like Tenko deserved it.
"Chichi...", Tenko said softly.
"DON'T EVEN CALL ME BY THAT NICKNAME!" I yelled. I took a step forward causing Tenko to step back. I repeated my movements after every word I spoke. "YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TREAT ME AS A FRIEND AFTER EVERYTHING! SO DON'T FUCKING CALL ME 'CHICHI' OR WHATEVER JUST DON'T CALL ME ANYTHING AT ALL!"
Tenko was then blocked by a tree behind him which limited his surroundings.
"You don't understand! You have to let us explain first! Please Chichi!" Tenko allowed tear after tear fall down his face.
"What. Did. I. FUCKING. SAY ABOUT CALLING ME 'CHICHI'!" I screamed. Unable to control myself, I lifted a fist filled with flames and attempted to strike at the back stabber. Tenko flinched in a traumatic way but before I touched him, a wall of vines fell, separating the both of us.
"That's enough, Chiro!" Rantaro called out. The wall fell and Rantaro and Bade rushed to Tenko's aid.
"How pathetic..", I scoffed, "I don't care what the you all have to say. I should've known no one would care for at all. Don't expect me to feel bad and don't bother chasing me. I'm better off alone like usual."
After that, I ran off further into the woodlands. I ignored the fading calls of my name and continued running. I will become my kingdom's hero and I will kill anyone getting in my way...
---------------
"....ichi!! CHICHI!!!" Bade calls out, "COME BACK!"
"It's no use.", says Rantaro, "He's gone. He doesn't trust us anymore."
"Shit.. He's going to die out there."
"I know. That's why we need to get there before him and get the scroll."
"Exactly and we need to do it as soon as possible but we can't leave Tenko here."
I sat at the bottom of the tree, knees against my chest. I trembled as my memories came back, rewinding every traumatic event.
"Tenko.. You gotta stop remembering about that." Bade sighed, "We know how scary it was for you then. You need to learn to fight it."
Rantaro crouched down in front of me. "You're only going to get weaker if you don't control your mind. Try taking deep breaths and relax."
After around 15 minutes of trying to relax, I turned back into an axolotl and sat on Rantaro's shoulder as we went to help Chichi from dying.
