-Louis-
"Thank you for letting us stay here for the night, Josie." I said, as Athena walked past me and to the guest room, her head down and arms crossed. I looked at Josie, who simply shrugged her shoulders and walked back to her room. I shuffled into the guest room and set our overnight bag down, only to find Athena laying on her side. She was quiet and it scared me. "Baby?"
"Hmm." She replied, her eyes fixated on the wall. I walked over and crouched down in front of her, her eyes shifting to look at me.
"Please talk to me." I pleaded, placing my hand on top of her side.
"What are you hiding from me?" She asked me softly. I stared at her in silence for a while, before she propped herself up on her elbow and stared at me sternly. "Louis, what are you hiding from me?"
"Baby-"
"Tell me." She snapped, sitting up completely and snatching her hand away from mine and placing it on her lap. I would be lying if I said it didn't sting with how she reacted. I stared at her, before standing up from the floor and crossing my arms. "Louis, I swear to God-"
"Commander Malik is building up an army and wants to destroy Team X." I told her, as she rose to her feet. "A war is starting and he won't stop until everyone in Team X are dead, especially you." I added, my voice starting to go weak.
Her gaze shifted to the floor, her hair hiding the her face from me. I walked towards her and cupped her face in my hands, causing her to look at me. I ran my thumb over her bottom lip, as she closed her eyes and sighed deeply. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Your dad told me not to." I mumbled. "He didn't want you to worry."
"When did you talk to him?" She questioned.
"I met him at a coffee shop the day we got home." I replied, as she backed away from me and put her hands out in front of her.
"My dad is overseas, he couldn't-" She stopped, dropping her hands and looking at the floor. "I don't know how to even feel."
"Don't be mad at me, please." I begged, reaching for her hands, only to have her pull them away from my reach. "Athena-"
"You kept this from me!" She yelled, placing her hands on my chest and shoving me backwards. "How long did you plan on keeping this from me?!" She stared at me, her eyes full of anger. I tried to find the right words to say, but she shoved me again, catching me off guard. "We're f***ing married, Louis! You're supposed to be honest with me! Not keep something like this from me."
"I wanted to tell you! You're dad told me not to tell you! As soon as I tried to mention you, he shot me down! You would've known as soon as I got home if I wasn't terrified of your father!" I snapped back, trying really hard not to say something I didn't mean. "Athena, I know not telling you was wrong, but I need you to trust me enough to know I'm doing everything in my power to protect you." I said a bit more softly. "I love you more than words can explain and I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart."
Athena stared at me for the longest time, whilst my eyes were fixated on my wedding band. I twisted it around my finger multiple times, before sighing and scratching the back of my neck. "I'll go sleep on the couch." I mumbled, turning on my heel and heading out the door.
It was exactly what I didn't want. I didn't want to argue with her. The argument wouldn't have happened if I would've just told her the moment Logan told me. If I would've just went against what Logan said and told her, everything would be alright.
But it's not, and it's all my fault.

"Louis." I heard a strained voice say, causing me to roll over from my side to my back and open my eyes, only to find Athena with huge tears in her eyes. I sat up quickly and pulled her onto my lap, wrapping my arms around her tight. She buried her head into the side of my neck and sobbed, her hand gripping my shirt tightly.
"Talk to me, baby." I whispered, rocking her slowly. "Was it another nightmare?" I asked quietly, as she nodded and wrapped an arm around my neck. It killed me to see her this way and knowing I wasn't there beside her when it was happening made it worse.
"I'm sorry, Louis. I'm so sorry." She cried, as I squeezed her tighter than I already was.
"Don't apologize, love. You don't need to apologize. I'm the only one that needs to apologize." I told her. "I'm sorry for everything, Athena. I'm so sorry."
"Please come sleep with me. Please." She begged, lifting her head off my shoulder and looking at me. I nodded, leaning in and kissing her gently, her lips tasting like a mix of cherry chapstick and salty tears. Once I pulled away, I hooked my arm under her knee and carried her bridal style to the guest room, laying her down gently before crawling into the bed myself.
She huddled up close to me, her head buried in my chest, my chin resting on top of her head. I ran mg hands up and down her back, her one of her hands on my side. Once I knew she had stopped crying, I kissed her forehead, keeping my lips there for awhile. "I've told you this many times before, but I will do everything in my power to keep you safe. Zayn Malik and his army won't come anywhere near you, and I'll make sure of it. My life has no meaning without you and I'll make sure he doesn't lay a goddamn finger on you."
It was silent for a while, her breathing and heart rate back to normal. I combed my fingers though her hair, before she pulled away slightly and looked at me. "I love you." She whispered hoarsely, her left hand touching my cheek. I turned my head and kissed her palm, before kissing her forehead.
"I love you."
With that, we fell asleep, the threat on not only my life, but Athena's as well, disappearing from my mind.
