-Athena-
My heart sank when I stepped off the plane and saw the crumbled buildings and hundreds of people walking the streets with pained expressions. Medics were tending to as many people as they could, while firefighters and policemen tried to keep peace.
All around me were people who had either lost loved ones, homes, memories, or all of the above. Some people had nothing left. Some people were forced to sit and wait for the war to blow over before they felt safe again, whereas others believed they'd never be safe.
I walked slowly towards one of the fallen buildings, trying my hardest to keep a strong exterior. I locked eyes with some people who had sorrow written throughout their faces, which only made my heart sink more.
Team Z destroyed everything.
"Hi." I heard someone say, causing me to look in the direction of the voice. I looked around, my eyes glancing down, only to find a little girl with dirt covering her face. She offered me a smile, which made me smile a little.
"Hi," I said, getting down on one knee in front of her and grabbing her hands. "What's your name?"
"Andi." She answered.
"Why are you out here by yourself, Andi?" I asked, as she looked down at her feet and sighed.
"I can't find my mom." She replied, glancing up at me for a moment. My heart began to ache for the little girl, my own instincts telling me that her mother was crushed by the rubble.
I looked down at my feet and shook my head slightly, trying to show Andi that I wasn't strong. "How old are you?"
"I'm," She began, before holding up six fingers and nodding slightly. "this many." I gave her a smile, before realizing she had cuts on her arms that were most likely filled with bacteria.
"Hey, can I show you a magic trick?" I asked. She starred at me for a bit, her eyes scanning my face. "I'm not here to hurt you, beautiful. I'm here to help you." She shook her head slowly, her eyes fixated on my mask.
She didn't fully trust me because of my mask. I looked around for a moment, spotting the plane shaft still open from when we landed. Maybe if she saw my face, she'd trust me a little more. I stood up and offered her my left hand, pointing at the plane with my right. "Wanna go in there?" I asked. Although she was reluctant, she agreed with a nod. I walked her into the plane and sat her down the bench, before kneeling in front of her again. I took off my mask and set it beside the little girl, my eyes glancing over to look at her. "See? I'm just a girl like you."
She scanned my face, her eyes filled with some worry. She was scared, and I really didn't expect anything different. "Do you trust me?" I whispered, reaching for her arms slowly. She followed my hands as I inched towards her arms and flinched once my hands were there. She nodded quickly, clenching her eyes shut and turning her head away.
I took a deep breath, a white light appearing from my hands and disappearing just as fast. She opened her eyes once I removed my hands, a shocked look on her face. She smiled wide at me, before hugging me tight. "Thank you." She replied sweetly, making my heart melt.
This whole pregnancy is screwing with my emotions.
Just as I went to reply, I heard a large bang, making my heart jump. I looked out and saw huge flames and heard screaming all around. "Andi, can you stay here? Sit right here and don't move, okay?" I said, before grabbing my mask, putting it on quickly, and running out the plane, pressing my fingers to my Bluetooth, trying to catch somebody's voice. "Louis? Josie? Mom? Please respond." I replied quickly, a fuzz filling my ear. "Team X, respond."
