Amelia's POV

I woke up to an alarm for 6:00. Minnesota is 2 hours ahead of Seattle so I'm extremely tired, but I want to get to the lab first. I rolled over and forced myself out of bed and into the shower.

I got dressed into a simple outfit, jeans and a sweater. It's cold in Minnesota so I get to take advantage of all my sweaters. I was going to change into scrubs when I got there so it doesn't really matter what I wore.

As I walked out of the hotel room it hit me what had happened last night. Me and Kai went out, but it wasn't a date. Was it? No. I specified that it wasn't, but I kinda wanted it to be? I don't know.

I've always known that I wasn't straight, I mean I've had crushes on girls before but nothing serious. I mean when I was in college I drunkenly made out with my friends, but so did everyone. And I just broke things off with link, I feel like I shouldn't move on this quickly, but it just feels so right hanging out with Kai. Plus they probably don't even like me, and I mean look at them, there's no way they're single.

I walk out of the hotel and start to walk over to the hospital. All the trees were orange, yellow, red, all about to lose their leaves, it was so pretty. When I got to the hospital I tried to find the lounge to change, but eventually ended up having to ask a nurse.

I walked through the door of the lab and I saw Kai standing there waiting for me.

"Trying to be the first one in?" They ask, they're face lighting up as I walk through the door.

"I, was yeah" I say, smiling back at them. "Where are we?"

"Well we need to inject the cells into the brain and make sure they can survive at every stage without turning into cancerous cells." They said

"Ok perfect, let me just check my emails then we can get started." I say, going to sit down, opening my computers.

"Perfect, I have some paperwork to do first anyways" they reply, sitting across from me at the desk.

I check my emails, I have one from Meredith to both me and Kai saying that she'll be here later today, but other than that nothing super important. I close my laptop and Kai looks up at me.

"What's this paperwork?" I ask eager to help.

"Just all the legal stuff from the FDA, making sure we're within the guideline on what we're doing."

"Can I help?" I ask

"It's the boring stuff, I'll do it tonight" they say, putting the work down.

"How long have you been putting it off for?" I ask, knowing the actual science is far more exciting and that's what they'd do first. It's what I'd do first.

"Umm, I don't know, maybe 3 or 4 days" they say kinda looking down at their hands nervously.

"Give me" I say as reach for the paperwork

"You're only here for 5 days, we need to do-" they begin to say till I cut off

"Dr. Bartley." I say sternly "I can also do paperwork, I'm not just here for fun. I'm here to help cure Parkinson's, that includes the boring paperwork"

"Ok fine" they say finally giving in and handing me some of the work.

"What do you want for lunch?" I asked, me and Kai had been working for about 6 hours, so it was about 1:00.

"Whatever, I'm not picky" they reply

"Ok, but if you give me free reign you're going to end up with cheeseburgers everyday" I say laughing at my childlike appetite.
