Gaussian white noise signal.
That's the technical term. But to Iseul it simply sounds like TV static.
The clicking of a door.
The scribbling of a pen against a hard surface.
"Today's gonna be a hard day for her."
With eyes drowsy and barely open she follows the sound.
Her mother's breath is shaky and she rests her head on her brother's shoulder.
The AC is cold.
The low sound of music coming from her left. The title of an old fantasy book is covered by headphones—still on.
The itchy blanket feels harsh against her skin.
A woman in white she'd never seen before approaches her. With a smile she says something Iseul doesn't quite catch.
She should ask who she is, but instead she falls back asleep.
