GENTLE hands scrubbed at the metal chamber pot - soap and grime covered her skin and traveled all the way up her arms.

Rebecca hummed softly as she cleaned the mixing pot that Scotty used to make medicine vials. Today had been a slow day in the cottage. A few broken bones, a couple sore throats, and a handful of runny noses was all that the human had to cure.

Peter had gone home a week earlier, his parents eager to have him back at the house. Before he had gone, he had given Rebecca a hug and had promised to bring her a candy bar.

Rebecca couldn’t help but coo at the words.

And on another happy note, Xavier agreed to let Rebecca talk to the kids at the school. It took some convincing for the council to agree, but when Peter’s parents had all but demanded for her to be allowed to educate the children on plant safety - no one protested.

“You almost done with that pot, Cornflower?” Scotty called out from the front of the cottage.

“Yes sir!” Rebecca answered back as she wiped it clean.

The old Beastial wandered into the room, hands clutching a small basket of herbs and glasses askew on his nose like always. “Good, maybe I should keep you locked away in here. You seem to get more work done when you aren’t making goo-goo eyes at Ryker.”

The human’s face burned scarlet as she dropped the cloth she had been using to clean the old chamber pot. Her blue eyes were wide as she took in Scotty’s smirk and she fumbled with her words.

“I- I don’t know what you are talking about.” She finally stuttered out and the old healer snorted.

“I think you do.” Scotty teased as he walked over to the counter to put the basket of plants in the water basin. He continued to talk as he washed the green vegetation. “Everytime pretty boy walks by, your jaw is immediately on the ground. I may be old, but I ain’t senial yet.”

Rebecca rolled her eyes and grumbled under her breath. “That is debatable.”

“Or deaf for that matter!” He shot her a glare and she returned it with an innocent smile - though she knew he didn’t buy the act for a second.
