HEN Rebecca woke up the next morning, her head was pounding and her throat was sore. It took everything she had to roll out of bed and stagger into the kitchen where Scotty was watching her with amused eyes. She felt like she was twenty-one again with her first hangover.

“You look like you have seen better days.” Scotty smirked, chuckling at the glare the human sent him. “Here drink this, it will help with the sore throat.” He slid her a cup full of burgundy liquid. “Do not drink it all in one go.”

“Aye, Aye captain.” She shot him a mock salute before lightly sipping at the liquid. “Thanks for what you did last night, you didn’t have to do that.”

“Who else is gonna make sure your body doesn’t shut down?” He shot her a wink and Rebecca smiled at him. “Besides after the bombshell last night, you needed all the comfort you could get.”

Rebecca looked down at the table, nibbling on her bottom lip. “Why did you tell me? Like I am glad you did, don’t get me wrong - but we both know you didn’t have to do that.”

Scotty sighed quietly, running a hand down his face before he cupped his chin. “I was too late to save your mother, and I am hoping I can save you.”

“What do you mean?” The human tilted her head - her brows pinching together. “I’m not in any danger.”

“Rebecca, you are leaving in a few months and I know you think of this place as home. And just like your mother you are going to come back and I don’t want you to wind up in the same predicament she did.” His gaze was stern and Rebecca looked up at him with a slack jaw. “Which is why I find it best that you do not interact with Ryker anymore.”

The human blinked once, then twice before what he had said registered in her head. And she could only spit out one thing after a minute. “What the fuck?”

“Now Rebecca-”

She cut him off as she stood from the table. “Who do you think you are?” Her blue eyes were red with anger and her teeth were bared. At this moment she looked more like a Beastial than a human.
