Kallista doesn't know how to control her pounding heart.
Usually, she likes the feeling of hearing her heart beat fast. Wether it's after a good share of laughter with her friends, after running a few miles in the park, and even after a good shag, it's a great feeling to her.
But right now, it's not feeling good. She can feel rage taking ahold of her body. She can feel herself get tense each time her eyes meet Malfoy's silver ones.
When Kallista entered Malfoy Manor, she was glad to see Narcissa. Carina and Narcissa are great friends, they have always been. They usually have tea over at the Howard's Mansion, and Narcissa has always been nothing but kind to Kallista.
But Kallista didn't expect for Draco to be there. Well, at least she was hoping he wouldn't be here.
As he strides towards her family standing in the hallway, hands locked behind his back, his eyes never leave Kallista's. His jaw is clenched, as his eyes roam over her face.
He has changed. He's grown taller, shoulders are broader, features more sharp and tense. But he has the same eyes; grey and cold. There's not one ounce of sympathy in them. He's never been affectionate towards Kallista anyway.
"Good evening." Draco speaks, his voice surprisingly deeper than it was years ago.
He shakes Jackson's hand, kisses the top of Carina's one, pats Finlay on the back and ignores completely Kallista.
Kallista doesn't mind. She'd rather not touch him anyway.
"Draco." Narcissa scowls her son, eyes wide.
Draco sighs before locking his eyes again to Kallista's. "Howard." He mutters before looking away.
"What a pleasure." Kallista mumbles. Behind Draco, she can see Finn stifle a laugh and all she wants to do is hex him. A cold glare is sent his way, and he instantly rolls his eyes at his sister.
"Can't say the same for me." The blond musters down. His eyes are locked to a vase that seems to be more interesting than anyone else in that room, although his body is slightly turned towards the brunette.
"Alright." Narcissa and Lucius exchange a glance, "Shall we dig into dinner? The elves have prepared a wonderful Italian dish."
"I'm starving." Finn says, rubbing his hands and following Narcissa into the dinning room.
"Wine?" Lucius offers to his guests.
"Yes, please. I'll take a whole bottle actually." Kallista exhales. Carina gives wide eyes to her daughter before telling her to behave.
Kallista gives her coat to Draco who simply glances at it before letting it fall to the floor.
Breathing deeply, she glares at him before taking a step towards him, but gets stopped by the voice of Narcissa calling for the pair.
Draco enters firstly the room without holding the door for the brunette, letting it fall shut right in front of her nose. Oh, she's not going to stay patient much longer.
"I see you haven't changed one bit." She snaps as she enters the large room before pushing the door close.
"Do not talk to me. I can't hear you." Draco speaks, not even bothering to look at her.
Kallista ignores his statement, "Such a gentleman. Can't even bother to hold the door for a lady."
He takes a seat and looks up at her. "I've always been a gentleman with ladies, Howard. You're just the only exception."
She fakes a smile in his direction, "How lovely."
She takes a seat next to Finn as his eyes travel between the blond and his sister. Sparks of amusement gleam in his blue eyes. Assisting to this reunion might be the best thing that has happened to him this week.
