"Diamond, Ruby or Emerald?"
Kallista's eyes drift away from her bookshelf to watch Draco stride in elegantly through her door.
Hands tucked deep in the front pockets of his black pants, white shirt fitted around his broad torso underneath a grey jumper. His office attire.
The blond closes the door shut and takes a seat on the couch. It's that time of the day again: Draco takes a break to come into Kallista's office to read, take a nap or watch his new favourite show.
Usually, he doesn't talk to her. He barely glances at her as she works through her cases. Sometimes, Kaïa would walk in to give him something to drink and eat.
"Do you have a fever?" She asks, walking towards him.
She presses the spine of her hand to his forehead. Draco swats her hand away quickly, barely giving time for the brunette to feel his body temperature.
"Don't touch me." Draco snaps before lying down on the couch. His long legs extend towards the end of the piece of furniture as his hands come to lock behind his head. His sweater rises slightly, but no skin is revealed.
Kallista finds herself being disappointed. As soon as she realises what she's thinking about, she rolls her eyes and collects her thoughts.
He peers up at Kallista taking a book out from the shelf. "I'm perfectly fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes!" Draco huffs and watches her take a seat on her desk chair.
Snow is falling down over the town. The sky is grey and filled with clouds. Christmas is getting closer by the day.
"Ah." Kallista puts her pair of glasses on top of her head before leaning her chin in the palm of her hand. "Because you never ask for my opinion. Therefore I assumed you were sick."
Draco can't help but roll his eyes at Kallista.
"Why are you asking anyway?" Her gaze settles on the piece of parchment laid in front of her.
Her eyebrows furrow in confusion as her eyes roam over the words written on the paper. She bites down onto her lower lip as she waits for the blond to answer her question.
Draco's eyes drop to her lip sunken underneath her teeth. He can feel his Adam's Apple bop before drifting his gaze back up to her eyes.
She's now watching him with narrowed eyes. "I asked you a question."
He wets his lips, "Your engagement ring. Diamond, Ruby or Emerald?"
Her eyes widen before flickering between his, "My ring? Malfoy, I couldn't care less. Give me a plastic one. I'll be happy with that."
"I'm a gentleman, Howard. As much as I want to smash your forehead against the desk, I think you deserve a real and expensive ring."
"How sweet of you." Her voice is filled with sarcasm, "Why? Whatever this is—" She gestures between the both of them, "—it's not even real. Don't waste your energy and money on me."
His gaze settles on the white ceiling above, "Stop being a bitch about it and tell me what you want."
Kallista watches the Auror from her desk. Looking almost peaceful, lying on the couch and being pensive, acting calm and collected. She is certain something is wrong with him.
"Diamond."
Their eyes lock again, "Emerald it is."
Kallista scowls at him and he taunts her with a devilish smirk. The brunette throws a pencil at him which he catches swiftly in the air.
