1. Originally, I wasn't sure Carson and Vinny would end up together, but I love happy endings too much.
2. Vinny Taylor has existed as a character in my head for over five years. He used to be part of a different story that I never ended up finishing and scrapped it, but I loved him so much I rewrote his story into this.
3. Carson's dad was going to come back at some point, but I dropped that storyline.
4. It was originally going to be someone random that Logan saw Vinny with instead of Spencer.
5. Originally, it was either going to be Seth or Isaac that had assaulted Vinny, but after the first chapter I came up with the idea to make it Darren and sort of hide him in plain sight.
6. Spencer was never going to be gay or end up with Isaac in my original ideas.
7. Robbie was going to be in prison originally, and Vinny was going to visit him there instead of at his house.
8. At first, I was going to try to write in just Carson's POV, but then too many of my ideas revolved around Vinny and I had to write his POV. I decided to to the first half of the book in Carson's POV and the second half in Vinny's, but that ended up not working out either so I did them wherever I needed them.
9. Isaac was always going to have had hooked up with Vinny over the summer, but I contemplated different ways that Carson and everybody would find out about it. Vinny was going to be the one to admit that at one point, but I didn't want him outing Isaac. Isaac wasn't already going to know about Carson and Vinny's relationship at one point and was going to make some offhand comment about hooking up with him. But I wanted it to be super dramatic, so I settled on how it happens.
