Carson Hughes

I woke up on the uncomfortable floor the next morning, lifting my head up to see Logan sitting on the couch and scrolling through his phone. Everyone else was still asleep as I rolled over on my side to check my phone for the time. It was only seven and I didn't know why I was wide awake. Probably because I was stuck on their awful hardwood floor.

I groaned aloud and sat up, rubbing my tired eyes with the back of my hand and gaining Logan's attention.

"You good?" he asked, setting his phone down on the arm of the couch.

"It's too early," I complained, resting my hands on the floor behind me to hold myself up. "And your floor sucks."

"You didn't have to sleep on the floor," he said in a dull tone.

"You would rather me cuddle up with you and Dana?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.

Logan chuckled, his mouth quirking upward slightly. "We wouldn't mind."

I rolled my eyes. The last thing I needed was to third wheel on a relationship. I wasn't that desperate. Yet.

"What? You don't want to be part of this?" Logan asked with a laugh, motioning down toward Dana who was sleeping with her mouth wide open. Every time she breathed out, the hair in front of her face flew upward.

I let out a snort. "No thank you."

"You never did tell me if you hooked up with anyone over the summer," Logan pointed out with a smirk after a few moments of silence. "Any hot camp counselors?"

I immediately shifted my eyes downward toward the floor, not wanting to meet his gaze. Part of me wanted to tell Logan how I had hooked up with another counselor all summer long, but then he would ask questions. And I didn't want to tell him I had been hooking up with a guy.

"I mean..."

"You did!" Logan nearly shouted, an excited grin on his face as he slightly moved forward toward me.

"Shut up," I muttered, keeping my eyes cast down.

"Tell me!" he urged, leaning forward again. "Tell me about it! Who was it? How many?"

I groaned, shifting my eyes toward the ceiling. "Logan stop."

"Was it more than one?" he asked. "Oh my God, Carson. You have to tell me."

"It was just one," I mumbled.

"How many times?"

"Logan," I said in a warning tone, looking down at my lap.

This conversation made me nervous. There was an uncomfortable twist in my stomach as I sat under Logan's gaze. I didn't want to talk about my sex life, especially because it was not at all what he expected it to be. He expected me to be banging hot babes when in reality, I hooked up with one guy, Thomas, all summer long. If Logan knew, it would be awkward. I didn't want to make him think of me differently.

"Hey," Logan called out, grabbing my attention back to him. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."

"It's just— it's just weird," I said with a sigh.

Logan shrugged. "It doesn't have to be weird. I won't judge you."

I shook my head.

"You can tell me anything, you know," he assured me with a kind expression.

"I know," I confirmed with a nod.

I knew I shouldn't be worried about what Logan would think of me if he knew about my sexuality. He was my best friend and I knew he would support me through anything. But I couldn't help but feel like it would make things awkward for at least some amount of time. And just because he seemed chill with Vinny being gay, didn't mean he would be chill with me. It made sense in my mind, but if I said it out loud, I knew it wouldn't.
