The Messiah

The lion looks around the gathered there. He smiles. Finally, I have enough followers to begin my plan. He steps up to the stage, which is made of a flat rock. His two lion guards are standing on either side of the stage, and some more are sprinkled throughout the crowd. The lion is taking no chances. He clears his throat and looks around. 

"My friends, we as the people of the Pridelands have gathered today. You have all come to listen to my preaching. And you will not be disappointed. But let me first ask you a question: Are you happy?" 

He pauses, and many people shout "Yes!" He holds up his paw. 

"No, just just yell 'yes!' I want you to truly think about it. We've lived here in the Pridelands for a while and have seen many things. First off, Scar murders the Lion Guard and yet Mufasa let's him live in the Pridelands. Then, Scar betrays him and kills him with the help of those evil hyenas. Then, he takes power and we all suffer while Simba's runs away to live with an outcast with gas problems and another exiled because he can't dig a tunnel or keep watch good enough for his people to barely survive being eaten! Then, one of the lionesses finally gets the idea to go look for some food in the lush jungle over there. And she finds Simba, just chilling with his friends and having more than enough food to eat, while we're struggling not to eat each other! Then she convinces him to come back, and he fights Scar and almost kills him before his own hyenas betray and kill him. Talk about karma, eh? Then, Simba's marries this lioness and has a child, who befriends and falls in love with the heir to Scar and his son. Meanwhile, this same son is plotting with his power hungry sister and his insane  brother, and his cultist monstrous mother! Then, he kills his own brother and he's exiled again, and then his girlfriend finds him, brings him back, and kills his mom. Then, the two cousins marry, and Simba then has another child, who leads the Lion Guard, fights Scar, which he only succeeded in because some filthy hyenas finally decided to have a change of heart but then told him the wrong way to kill him. After Scar died, this same kid then falls in love with a cheetah - which can't happen! — then burns down the Pridelands and kills some of our friends, and tries to kill another friend all because this cheetah wouldn't say 'yes.' Now, tell me, this isn't a messed up place we live in." 

He stops again, and scours the crowd. No one makes a sound. He continues. 

"But I, I have a different way. I will lead the Pridelands back to victory and kick out the hyenas and vultures who have taken our land, and the weak rulers who do nothing to stop them. I will lead you to victory. I am your Messiah!" 

"Amen! Long live the Messiah! They shout loudly, and his own guards roar their assent. He steps back and shakes his dark mane before beginning again. 

He leaves the stage, grinning from ear to ear as his followers yell his name behind him. 

He knows. This is my time.
