Kion lays on his throne in the Outlands.
In actuality, it's not a throne, but a slab of rock. Scar stands next to him, and Vita lies, curled into Kion.
A jackal enters in, looking nervous. It's been two days since Scar was risen, but all of their followers are still nervous. Plus, know that they know that their schizophrenic leader can bring people back from the dead, they're kinda scared. And rightfully so.
Kion could be scary, and everyone saw it after he murdered that jackal in cold blood, no matter what his excuse was.
"What is it?" he snaps to the jackal. Vita lifts up her head and places a comforting paw on his shoulder.
"Be kind," she whispers. Kion sighs softly.
"I have a message. The king of the Pridelands is sending a messenger to us, asking about something or other. He is at the entrance."
Kion looks at Vita and nods. "Send him in."
The jackal bows, and leaves.
Scar turns to Kion. "Kion, this may be a good opportunity to take back the throne. If we can get the messenger to send a message back to Simba, we could jumpstart a war."
Kion grins. "Excellent."
A lion walks in, flanked by two others. The jackal stands behind them, and bows before leaving.
"Hello, Prince Kion," says the front one.
"King Kion," Kion growls. "It's King Kion now."
"S-sorry, your highness," the lion stammers, dropping his head. "I-I have a message from King Simba."
"Well, don't just stand there," Kion snarls. "You're wasting my time."
"S-sorry, your majesty." He clears his throat. "Ahem, this is the message that follows."
"'Dear Kion,
I have recently learned that you are still alive and I thank the Great Lions above for that. I was convinced you had been killed in the Outlands after your trip there after your situations. But now that you are alive, I want you back. You have been punished enough. I want you back, my son. But I have one problem: your so-called friends. Rafiki says his staff was stolen by some jackals, and I witnessed you running away with the skull of my father. Rafiki told me about the ritual you are attempting, and I warn you: Do not do it. You have no idea of the danger and chaos you will cause if you resurrect Scar. Please, return to me. Of course, if you do return, since many of the people are against you, you would have to hide in the cave. But we can make it work! Please, my son, come back to me. To your family.
Love,
Your father,
King Simba.'"
Kion is trembling with rage. "This is the message my father brought to me?! My 'trip' to the Outlands didn't kill me after my 'situations!?' Of course it didn't! I was the leader of the Lion Guard, nothing can kill me! Nothing! And then he expects me to return to him and hide for the rest of my life instead of living free with my friends and real family out here? Does it look like I'm an idiot? No! Guards!"
Four jackals rush in, saluting. "Your Highness, what do you wish?"
Kion nods to the lions. "Kill them, but leave the messenger. I want him to tell my father, this means war."
The jackals lunge and rip the lions' throats open, and they fall to the floor. The messenger screams, and runs out of the cave, with the jackals growling and snipping at his tail until he leaves their territory.
Vita turns to Kion. "Kion, are you sure about this? I'm not sure that we can take Simba and his lionesses, and their allies in the Backlands and at the Tree of Life and even the Pridelanders themselves."
"Vita, Vita, Vita," Kion sighs. "When will you - or anyone - learn? I'm a fighter.
Kion smirks. "Tell your jackals to start moving out. We attack at dawn."
He leaves the throne, heading to his room. Vita salutes, before rushing off to prepare for the coming battle.
