Oshun jolted awake at the sound of multiple aggressive taps on her window.

She lifted her head from her pillow, vision overcast with sleep. She caught sight of an owl tapping on her window. Her parents' owl.

"Oshun, go open it," Forest grumbled with her face buried in her pillow. "It's bloody seven in the morning on a Saturday, woman."

"Sorry, sorry," Oshun grunted as she coaxed herself to sit up, Baloo purring from the top of her pillow. She rose from the bed and unsteadily made her way to the window, rubbing her eyes tiredly.

She flipped the latch and pushed the glass open, so the owl could rest on the windowsill. The morning breeze hit her skin and caused goosebumps to erupt.

She took the letter from the owl and stroked him softly on the head. He then flew off and she closed the window, flicking the latch closed.

She dragged herself back to her bed, tossed the letter on her night table, and dropped back into a slumber like the dead.

By the time Oshun woke up on her own, it was nine in the morning. The first thing she did was go to the bathroom to pee.

She then brushed her teeth and washed her face. In her pajama bottoms and big T-shirt, she headed to her bed and sat on the edge.

She picked up the letter from her parents, Baloo slipping his way onto her bare thighs. He purred and lay on her thigh, going back to sleep.

Oshun stroked her cat for a beat or two before she ripped open the envelope. She had written to her parents the night before.

She finally told them who she got for her spouse and left out the detention since Flitwick didn't actually notify the parents.

She never understood why some teachers bluffed about contacting the parents. More than half the time, the students never believed parents would get contacted.

Oshun explained that she got two guys because of the uneven amount of boys to girls. She even mentioned the proposal for the gays to marry who their hearts desired and have surrogates and donors.

She just didn't mention that both of her options hated her.

She plucked the card from the cream coloured envelope and flipped it open. She skimmed her mother's fancy, elegant handwriting, and then closed the letter.

Apparently she didn't need to mention that Draco hated her because her mum already knew that by the way she wrote this sentence: I know the Malfoys have strong Pureblood desires, but try not to let the boy's words hurt you if he makes nasty comments about you being half Muggle.

Her parents didn't know that Fred Weasley hated her because how could they possibly know that?

The whole Weasley family loved Muggles, so that was no reason to hate Oshun for the Muggle blood that ran through her veins.

Fred was charming and laid back around everyone, but perhaps not Oshun. He was blank and masked around her, like he was under duress to just dislike her.

"What did your mum say, Oshun?" Forest's voice was heavy with sleep as she sat up, rubbing her eyes with the heels of her hands.

"Not much." Oshun closed the card and put it back into the envelope. "Just to ignore Malfoy's snide comments."

"Let's not talk about arranged marriages today." Despite the thick sleep in Forest's voice, her tone was cheerful. "Let's have fun today. I hear there's a party tonight in the Slytherin common room."

"Absolutely not." Oshun shut it down immediately as she stood from her bed and Baloo hopped onto the floor.

"But it's the first party of the year, Oshun," Forest encouraged as she threw her legs over the edge to get to her feet. "You have to come."
