chapter 4: When Darkness consumes

I was woken up the next morning by my phone ringing my hand reaching slapping the bedside table trying to find my phone finally finding it and answering it "What" I said answering it.

"Josie's missing and dark," Hope said on the other end.

"Huh" I heard the words come out of her mouth they sadly weren't comprehending though, sitting up I was startled by Kai next to me stirring still for some reason my bed "Wake up" I whisper yelled to him patting his face.

"Stop talking," Kai who was sleeping peacefully on the other side of the bed mumbled

"Josie is missing and has gone dark" Hope repeated

"Okay, what am I supposed to do about that?" I said

"Oh I don't know maybe help find her and help fix this it is pretty much your new roommates fault" I groaned tapping Kai on the face a few times again as Hope continued to talk.

"What" he said rolling over to face me extremely annoyed with me at this point.

pressing the mute button and putting Hope on speaker "Order breakfast we have work to do" I said to him

"we what do you mean we?" He said and I raised my eyebrows.

"We as in you made the mess now clean it up its your fault were in this, so your going to help me" I said

"Bossy little thing aren't you" he said.

"It's literally your fault and If I have to be woken up at the ass crack of dawn to do this so do you"

"Umm no, Helping your friends issues wasnt really part of our little deal" he said.

"Well I'm saying it is"

"Well your little contract doesn't" Kai said a cheeky smile gracing his features smiling at him I snapped my fingers he immediately fell asleep. The mind is a funny thing in certain REMs of sleep the brain is highly suggestive one negative thought can create someone worst nightmare.
walking to my office gathering a bowl of herbs mashing them together a mix of sleep aids hallucinogens and certain plants that have been known to bring out nightmares in people meaning he should be going on quite the journey for the next few hours. Walking back over to the bed I lit the contents in the bowl muttering a spell placing the bowl under his nose so he breathed in the smoke holding it there for a few seconds for good measure then taking it away and setting it next to him it should burn for the next hour or two when it stops he should wake up.

A knock at my door startled me "Come in" I yelled

"Morning Erie" Lila said walking in.

"Morning" I said fixing Kai's covers and getting up from the bed "I have work to do" I said walking back towards my office.

"Giving him nightmares I see" she said smelling the bowl the herbs throughout the room to any normal person it would just smell sort of like sage burning but not her.

"Well he is making me clean up his mess for him" I said getting a few books out. "Ill be eating breakfast in here and would you mind having someone bring up a coffee maker for in here" I said looking through some of the still unopened boxes.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"Josie has gone dark and its his fault" I said sitting down at my desk as a few people entered my room to clean up opening the windows, putting the tv up, making the bed around Kai. "Now I have to fix it" Lila opened the curtains to the French doors in the office.

"That's a lot would you like any help with it"

"No I think I'm good thank you though"

A few hours passed in that time I had drank 3 or 4 cups of coffee taken a shower gotten dressed for the day unlike the other day my long brown hair cascaded to my back instead of being braided, dark baggy jeans and a baggy shirt hung off my body. I looked through book after book trying to figure out what was happening.
