Children

(A/N: I made these children on the spot sooo yeah- feel free to use them if you credit me for being their rightful creator!)

Nightmare sighed contently, happy that their husband and kids were out currently. That meant it would get some peace—if only for a few more seconds.

And a few seconds those were!

"......ddddDADDDDDDDD!!!!!" A child's voice rang through the hallway, footsteps stomping their way towards where Nightmare was.

"GET BACK HERE!! HE DOESN'T NEED TO KNOW!" Another child's voice tried to get the other one to get away, but from the sound of the footsteps.. they weren't going away.

A small 11 year old booked it into the room suddenly, quickly turning to get behind Nightmare so the other child chasing this one wouldn't use violent measures to get them to shut up.

A 9 year old swiftly ran into the room close behind the other child. "WHATEVER HE TOLD YOU—DON'T LISTEN!!"

Nightmare was thoroughly disappointed that their free time had ended without any warning. Nightmare took one more sip of it's coffee before setting it down on the kitchen counter right behind them. The 11 year old child behind Nightmare was also protected the kitchen counter so the 9 year old wouldn't sneak attack from behind.

"Dad, dad!" The 11 year old attempted to catch Nightmare's attention. It was successful.

"What do you want, Terror?"

"Pigment bro-"

"NO, I DIDN'T!! I DIDN'T BREAK ANYTHING! TERROR IS TRYING TO FRAME ME AGAIN!!!"

"-ke the vase that had the flowers Ink got you for your anniversary." Terror continued from where he was cut off.

Nightmare blinked, glaring at Pigment. "Tell me the truth."

Now, Pigment knew was far too late and they should just run, but they mostly took after Ink so therefore she was stupid. "Terror was actually the one to break the vase and is just trying to throw me under the bus." Since she knew that it was too late for themself, they figured it was better to drag Terror in this as well. That way they would both be punished!

"Pigment is lying again!! I had nothing to do with this!!! I'm just an innocent witness!" Terror immediately began to defend himself.

Nightmare looked between the two children that seemed to be deep in an argument.

Just then, Ink walked in. "What's going on here?? What're they arguing about this time, dear?" Ink asked Nightmare.

This is when the two children knew they messed up. If Ink was to find out that they broke something that he made and gave to Nightmare, they would surely die right then and there. They exchanged a glance and ran for it—out of the room and past Ink before Nightmare could protest. Pigment had grabbed Terror with one of her tentacles and dragged him out from behind Nightmare in a blink of the eye.

Ink was beyond confused now. He walked up to Nightmare, "Could you please tell me?"

"They broke the vase you gifted me on our anniversary apparently." Nightmare replied—not quite realizing that they just signed their children's fates yet.

"Oh." Was all that Ink said.

Nightmare sighed, hugging Ink. "I'm very sorry I couldn't stop them in time, darling. I should've known it was too quiet."

Ink shushed Nightmare. "No no, you did all that you could." Ink then got out of Nightmare's grasp, grinning. "If you'd excuse me, I'm going to go find them and.. have a chat with them."
