A/N: Requested by Rainthebluewolf! <3—————
Ink hummed contently, watching the AU papers float in the zero gravity like feathers—not actually ever falling but just swaying side to side gracefully.
It was relaxing to watch for Ink, and honestly, he found himself just sitting and watching when he was bored. Because for his brain.. it entertained him without fail every single possible time he was bored. And you'd think with how much he gets bored he would get bored of sitting and watching eventually!
But anyways, Ink wasn't bothered by the few nearby that were dying. They were supposed to, and it's not like the multiverse would miss them. No one really understood when he had tried to explain it before. His job as protector isn't to flood the multiverse with AUs, but rather to just make sure that the AU's scripts were okay and running smoothly.
It was so simple! Yet no one but him and Error could understand. Rude.
Speaking of being rude.. a familiar face popped into the Doodlesphere not too far away from Ink. He looked at them curiously, "Oh, hi, Dream! What're you doing here?"
"Ink! There's AUs that are being destroyed right now!"
Ink blinked. There were? He didn't feel any getting destroyed right now.. "Are there? Where?-"
"Quick, we have to go!" Dream struggled to float to Ink in the lack of gravity of the Doodlesphere, which Ink found hilarious always. To help Dream he got closer for him, to which he was grabbed and teleported away to the supposed destruction.
The AU was rather depressing. Blood and dust was absolutely everywhere, it appeared to be a surface AU.
As Ink looked around a bit more he found that, of course, this AU was not being destroyed but rather just it's script going smoothly.
In this AU, named UnderBeasts (creative name, he knows), all of the monsters were rather savage and rapid beasts who had good reason to be sealed off in the underground. But it seemed that it was the part where they had been freed and were taking their revenge against.. well, anything actually, considering they were hurting each other too. It was sad, Ink can admit, but there's nothing he can do about it.
"Dream.." Ink sighed disappointedly, face palming. "This is meant to happen, we shouldn't disturb it."
"No! We have to help! These people are suffering, Ink." Dream was stubborn, and while sometimes it was funny and useful, most of the time to Ink it was very annoying.
Ink grabbed Dream back, teleporting them out of the AU so they wouldn't disturb it any longer. Dream pulled back in almost disgust as soon as the teleportation process was finished. "What is wrong with you?!"
"Nothing, why? Is there something on my face??"
"Ink, we have to help them!"
"We don't and we can't. That's just how their AU is, and yeah it's sad, but there's nothing I can do about it in all honesty."
Dream didn't believe Ink. Why should he? There was no proof of anything that he was claiming, and he had proven that he was a liar more than once. So, no, Dream wasn't going to buy in on Ink's lies. "We can help them, Ink. We can help every single suffering AU out there. But no, you're so selfish. Don't you ever think about anyone aside from yourself?"
Ink was stunned. Dream had never said anything like that to him. Was this what he truly thought? It's not Ink's fault; he never chose this. Although he does enjoy it, Dream has no right to blame him for anything that happened in the AUs. If anything, he should blame the creators. But obviously that isn't much of a good idea either if they hear about it.

FanfictionThis is an Inkmare ship book - so if you're looking for any other ship, this is not the book for you. (That is unless you're fine with the ship to be in the background and not the main focus.) My version of Inkmare is probably a little bit different...
