Chapter 2
---
Daryl led me through the woods in silence, but his hand still gripped mine, and I still felt the warmth .
We transitioned from thick green forest, into a homily looking farm house, men were cleaning guns out while a smaller group of women were pinning clothes up on a line,
A man in a sheriffs uniform came sauntering toward use with the type of confidence that many would only dream of. He extended a hand to me and spoke with authority "I'm Rick Grimes" he said
"I'm Piper" I said and in return, shaking his hand.
"Well welcome home Piper" he smiled brightly.
I smiled back the best that I could considering the situation. Rick led me around the land and introduced me to many others, like Glenn and Maggie, Andrea, T dog, Dale, Shane, and his wife Lori and there adorable son Carl. I also met Hershel, who owned the property, they all seemed wonderful.
The group had a camp at the end of Hershel's drive way and it seemed all so perfect, it wasn't much but I think it will be my home for now.
Shane sat opposite of me as we sat around the fire, "you could sleep in my tent if you like," he said, I was about to politely decline but two strong hands rested on my sides, sending tingles down my spine.
"No need Shane, Pipers with me" said a familiar gruff, southern voice.
I felt my cheeks burn a bright pink as he pulled me up out of my seat and led me to a cozy looking tent that had a soft light glowing from a lantern.
After I got comfy in the dark blue sleeping bag, daryl put his crossbow beside him and wiggled himself in with me. I let my instincts guid me and allowed my forehead to rest on his chest. I peaked up at him, only to see him staring right back at me.
I soon heard everyone else settle down for the night and Daryl blew out the lantern. In all the silence, I found comfort in this small tent and the man who lays next to me.
