Within the blink of an eye, the release if a breath, and the clap of your hands, things can change drastically. If it's for the better if for the worst isn't up to us, but the fate of the universe.
Things change so often, people change, feelings change, the world will change. But we never really forget how things used to be.
I often think of how things used to be, and then my mind wonders to other things that I often tried to block out.
And soon after my mind snaps back to the present, where I lay in Daryl's strong arms, completely complete.
One arm was draped around my waist while the other held a fist if my brown locks gently in his rough hands.
My eye lids began to get heavy and I soon fell asleep to the soft sound of Daryl's breath.
Lately I'd been waking up the sound if our fellow survivors bustling about down stairs, so when heart shattering screams pierced the air I was ripped from my sleep.
I instinctively grabbed my hatchet and slammed the steal door open, Daryl following behind me with his crossbow,
His rough morning voice spoke up, "Piper, stay here, and stay safe."
I snorted rather unattractively, "I'm not the hopeless girl I was when you found me Daryl, I can hold my own."
I ran forward cleaning the head straight off the walkers shoulders to prove a point. I didn't think to wonder why there was walkers in the fell block, I just continued to kill the lifeless monsters and safe people from a cruel fate.
I had a brief second to glance at the walkers lined along the fence through the dirty prison window, before I sliced another walker, the warm blood spraying in my chest.
I acted as though I was un-fazed by the fact the the walkers were people I had seen just the other day, before they had somehow gotten bit.
The walkers and the people bit inside the prison made our group much smaller, due to our losses, and the walkers spread along the fence where everywhere.
I couldn't help but wonder, why are we still fighting a battle we've always been losing?
