Chapter 6
-----
Several days later,
-----
Thing were happening so quickly, Shane ripped the barn door open and hungry walkers came stumbling out. Gun shots rang out from around me until none remained, slowly a small girl with rotting flesh and scrawny legs came from the barn, Carol cried out and Daryl held her back while Rick pulled the trigger and she fell dead the ground, this time for real.
"Sophia!!" Carol sobbed, I didn't even know Sophia but the tears stung my eyes anyway.
My hands shook as I attempted to comfort Carol, I wrapped my arms around her and she cried into my shoulder. Things were never going to be the same here.
I watched out the window as Rick and Carl came back from walking.
"Walkers!!" I screamed out the door at them, in a matter of seconds, everyone had a weapon at hand and there stuff gathered, there were to many to handle and we needed to get out of here.
"Daryl! Behind you!" I shouted to him, he swiftly spun around and shot the walker dead between the eyes with his crossbow.
We fought off as many as we could, but soon it was overwhelming and we needed to make a break for it. The roaring of a motorcycle blared in my ears,
I spun around to find Daryl on a black bike.
"Get on Piper" he said over the sound of hungry moans and gun fire. I swung my leg over the bike and wrapped my arms around his waist.

Daryl's pov

Once I was sure she was safely on my bike, let the throttle go and we took off away from the farm, the others followed in several vehicles. I hoped that everyone was okay.
About a half an hour past when I heard Pipers soft sobs from behind me. I pulled over on the side of the empty road and stood up, I kneeled down in front of her,
"Shhh baby girl, what's wrong?" I asked, my hand resting on her pale cheek.
"What if something happens to you Daryl? I wouldn't have anyone" She asked in a voice that stabbed my heart, it hurt more than any bullet would.
"It's okay baby girl, nothing happened, and nothing will, I won't let this world bring us down" I said, she nodded and hugged me with her thin arms.
I wrapped my larger arms around her frail waist, I was almost scared of breaking her.
She pulled back after several minutes of sitting in my arms.
"Ready to go now?" I asked, my voice surprisingly gentle.
She nodded as I mounted the bike again and started the engine. She hugged my waist and locked her legs against mine, we took off down the highway, running over a half eaten walker in the proses.
We found the others twenty minutes later, just in time to hear some surprising news.
"I killed Shane. i had no choice he was coming at me, saying crazy things" Rick said. Beside me I heard Piper gasp. I didn't even think Rick was capable of killing anything other than a walker.
An argument broke out in the group, Andrea had be left behind and Maggie suggested that someone go back for her.
Piper was the first to speak up. "Guys!! She's long gone now, there's no way she fought of those walkers, there was at least a hundred of them, and if we want to survive, then we need to stay together." She said firmly.
"I agree with Piper, none of this yelling and shit." I said wrapping my arms around Pipers waist.
"Lest just stay the night here" muttered Lori. We all agreed.
I laid down in the grass, pulling Piper down beside me. She cuddled up close to my chest and I pulled her closer. "We're gonna beat this world , Piper" I whispered in her ear as she dozed off in my arms.
