It took two weeks for Taehyung to move a large chunk of his army to the borders of the west town.

And another week to complete the formalities of declaring a war finally leads them to the day today.

Taehyung's mother was sitting on one of the chairs as the alphas and Taehyung sat quietly on the dining tables the only sound of cutlery clinking with each other.

The tension was unbearable in the room as the queen softly put his cutlery down, " I know it probably is all of your first traditional war and I know it might get overwhelming but all of you, you need to talk... Please talk otherwise it might be too late...."

A lot was left unsaid by the queen as she pushed her chair back walked out of the tent, signing the maids and soldier to follow her out to give the mates some alone time.

Everyone looked like they wanted to say something but none of them spoke they sat silently on the table attention stuck on the local meat cooked on the table.

" I wanted to mate before I die. "

Jungkook looked up, his eyes shiny with unshed tears as he tried to swallow down the food in his mouth.

" We are not dying. None of us are dying. It is a traditional war, all of us are more than capable to face the enemy. It is an uneven fight with an obvious win so don't stress at all we will mate right after the war. "

Taehyung looked and sounded composed, he doesn't look overconfident or someone who was saying stuff just for the sake of it, Taehyung looked confident as if he was merely stating facts.

And just like that the suffocating blanket of silence once again falls on the room, it was clear that the Emperor doesn't want to discuss a thing and although the alphas seemed dissatisfied with it they know not to push it.

Traditional war isn't like the war that happened nowadays with kings and their major ministers sitting on the sidelines sipping wine while the soldiers fight to their death on the battlefield or one where innocent citizens were killed and their fields bombed leaving them helpless on the streets.

Traditional war is one where a King along with major ministers are on the frontline leading the troops for a fight far away from the residential area and fighting together.

There are only two ways to end the war.

* If any one of the kings dies, or

* If any one of them accepts the defeat.

However, for a wolf traditional war, there is one more option that is when one of the kings loses in dual.

And that is a thing, everyone is concerned about. Dual challenge means fighting in their wolf form however for centuries omegas wolf form has gone weaker and weaker to the point where now most omegas can not even shift into their wolf at all and that one out of a thousand who can shift, look more like a domestic house dog rather than a wolf.

If that alpha challenges Taehyung for dual there is a fair chance of him losing and their whole preparation of the war going down the drain, this is not a concern of just one or two people but of most of their army.

Taehyung is probably the best Emperor so far for their subjects who have put them first and took serious steps for the upliftment of common folks and everyone was concerned for him.

But the only one who looked even a bit carefree was Taehyung himself, and there is no way to guess what was going inside his head.

Hoseok took a deep sigh, he had himself trained Taehyung and is aware that the omega is better than their best soldier when it comes to sword fight, horse riding, or other things required in battles, but the wolf...

Nowadays showing the wolf form is not the same as it used to be a few decades ago, with the civilization people no longer randomly shift to their wolf form. It could be fear of tearing off or spoiling the expensive fabric or the fact that now it is marketed as uncivilized or barbarian behavior to shift into wolf form in public.

Wolf form is now reserved for close family or mates as an intimate gesture especially an Omega as they are very small and vulnerable if they can even shift. Or in a case like this a war.

The alphas can not help but worry as the day of war approaches them and Taehyung remains calm and composed as he readjusts and re-discussed the strategy but remained quiet about the topic of wolf dual.

And no matter how the alphas felt about it they respected the omega and his choice to not say anything but one thing was sure, they don't give a fuck about old traditions and deeds of war written by the moon goddess herself which states no other wolf should intervene between two wolves in a dual.

If their omega is harmed they are jumping right in and finishing off the dammed alpha themselves.

The silent agreement between the alphas buzzed igniting something in their heart.
