Chapter three

"Uh, well, I... Cassidy! help me out here!"

Cassidy crawled towards Zayne. "Of course, Zayne! What do you need help with?"

Cassidy said this just before looking down. It was then when both of us noticed just how high we were above the ground.

"Well, I was about to say that we need an explanation as to why we're here, but now I think we need a plan to get down. Any ideas?"

I was too frightened to say anything else. I've gotta admit, I feel scared being this high from the ground. Although, I'm surprised that Cassidy hasn't flinched yet. I thought for sure that she would leave at this point. I looked at her and realized she didn't look as frozen as I was. Instead, she looked thoughtful.

"You know, we've been up here for quite a while and if there's anything I learned, it's that the answer lies within these walls.. Literally. I wonder if this button does something.."

"Cassidy, wait, no!"

It was too late. Without a second thought, Cassidy pressed on one of the ceiling buttons. I guess the floor underneath us was a trap door in disguise, because the next thing I knew, we were falling through mid-air.

I landed with a thump and then suddenly, everything faded to black. When I woke up, Olivia stood over me and looked at me rather worried.

"Hey, Zayne, are you okay?"

Olivia asked me after I fainted. She helped me get back on my feet

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, thanks." I replied. As soon as I got up, I saw 20 pairs of eyes staring back at me.

"What?" Haven't you ever seen a kid fall from the ceiling?"

At this, I saw a lady in red walking over to us. Judging by the way she looked, I assumed she was the teacher. I'm surprised that she didn't seem any more phased by what just happened. Man, how many kids fell out of the vent at this school?

"Well, it seems like you made it to class on time." She said as she looked over at us

"Okay, now that everyone's here, I'll give out the instructions; you are all to create a project that relates to animal biology. You must do it in groups of four or more people. You can create any group you'd like. As soon as you find your group, you are dismissed."

Then, she handed us the paper that had the instructions that we needed for the project.

Our group left class as soon as the paper was handed to us.

"Alright! School's out early! Awesome!"

"Blade! Wait up! Where are you going?"
