“Shane!” I yelled. I walked through the door of my house and dropped my board and helmet on the ground. I ran upstairs still looking for Shane. “Shane! Where are you?” I called again. There was no answer again, so I banged on his door, desperate for him to open it.
“What?” a voice said. It was Shane.
“Open the door,” I said out of breath, “Please.”
Shane opened the door, his sandy blonde hair was bed- headed and his blue eyes looked tired, turns out he was sleeping. “I need to talk to you,” I replied. “About what?” he asked. He was getting impatient, so I cut to the chase.
“I think I want to tell everyone,” I said, hoping he would support me.
“About what?” Shane questioned, trying to think about going back to sleep.
“Really?” I asked, preparing for him to burst out in a rage and shut the door.
“Oh that you’re a girl? Well I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” he yawned and started again, “And besides, people already know, well sort of.” Shane said, giving me information I didn’t know.
“Wait, what? People already know? How? Did you tell them?!” I asked worriedly. How did people know that I was a girl? I never even told anyone except for Shane and Jesse. What is this?
“Chloe, no offence but your moves are extremely girly. Troy was even asking me if for some reason you were a girl, then I had to lie to him saying no you weren’t and you were just having a bad day. I literally had to lie to my best friend, for your sake. You’re welcome by the way.” Shane finished, about to close the door but I stopped him half way.
“What do I do then?” I demanded. Shane was good at giving advice so I had to ask him. I was his sister so he couldn’t say no.
“I don’t know,” he paused to yawn and switched stances. “Maybe ace up your skills and then tell everybody, they’ll be mesmerized instead of laughing at you.” I thought about that, but I wasn’t sure what he meant exactly.
“So-” I began, but got cut off, “You’ll figure it out.” Shane finished. He closed the door in my face and I was left standing there.Okay… I thought. I sat against the peeled marmalade wall and put my head in my hands. How was I going to be great like Shane if I still can’t land specific moves? I have to find out a way to get known, and then drop a bomb on the skateboard world. Maybe no one will mind after it’s blown over? I really don’t know what to do anymore. Should I or should I not tell everyone? This was so confusing.
