"So um...I see that the entire forest is solid gold now..."
The village chief said slowly as he stared at the village now a golden husk of its former self.

"Avaritia! Turn the gold back!"

"I don't know how!"

Darnel screamed while shaking a giant Avaritia by his leg with all his might.

"So Avaritia was a monster in disguise..."
The villagers all looked at Avaritia with wide eyes and mouths.

"Gold woohoo!"

"You are the best darkness king ever!"

The only ones still jumping were the grey creatures, who were tearing out the golden trees and taking them with them. Darnel's comrades who fought with him to defeat the darkness king now looked quietly at the golden surroundings.

"So uh...are we still supposed to fight against them?"

"No idea, brother..."

The two former farmers stared at the grey creatures.

"Well, I guess we will have to move to the royal capital."
The village chief said with a sigh.

"Chief, how are we going to be let in?!"

"Trust me. I have connections."
The village chief said while pointing at himself.

"W-wait a moment! What about Avaritia?!"
Darnel said as he stopped shaking Avaritia's giant leg.

The village chief stared at Avaritia for a moment, then sighed.

"Impossible. How would a giant monster be accepted in there?"

Darnel looked down at the ground and grit his teeth.

"Huh? But I can turn human."

With that, Avaritia immediately turned into a small human boy with grey hair and very tall horns.

"See? Easy!"

"Well...I guess it could work?"
The village chief said with his eyes now twitching as much as his smile.

Some of the grey creatures looked at the now human Avaritia.

"Where the darkness king goes, there will be gold!"
One of the many grey creatures shouted.

And so, hundreds of humans and also some grey creatures carrying golden trees started going to the capital, while the remaining grey creatures continued tearing out golden trees and rocks out of the forest.

"Wait hold up, why are these monsters following us?!"
One of the villagers shouted.

"Gold!"
All of the grey creatures following them shouted in unison.

"I prefer crystals over gold."
A spiked grey creature said while scratching his ear.
The other grey creatures glared at the spiked creature who didn't pay any mind to their stares.

"Oh hi Spiky! I'm the new Darkness king!"
Avaritia waved at the grey monster.

"Oh nice! Can I have crystals and gems?"

"Sorry I can only create gold!"

"Oh..."
Spiky's shoulders slumped and his steps slowed down.

"But maybe the humans there will have crystals!"

"Oh!"
Spiky's steps got quicker again.

Darnel watched the scene behind them. He stopped himself from falling after he was pushed by someone.
