The Summoned Calamity Monster

Chapter 18 "Otherworldy memories"

Years ago, Avaritia was out searching everywhere for crystals in his previous world.
Plants didn't exist in that world.
The ground was just rocks.
And instead of trees, they had crystals with the same size. The crystals somehow produced oxygen.

Since crystals sparkled, Avaritia attempted to collect every crystal he found. But he only managed to obtain a small piece of the
crystal trees. Because he couldn't carry a tree sized crystal.
He decided to just steal the crystals from other monsters.

While Avaritia was searching for crystals, he suddenly heard someone yell.

"Hey! Join my gang, and you'll get shiny stuff!"

On a big rock, was a creature shouting that.
It was holding a gem in one of it's hands, while glancing around to see if someone was listening. But most of the creatures just kept passing by him, ignoring that creature completely.

"Liar! Gold doesn't exist anymore!"
A passerby said before leaving.

What first caught Avaritia's eyes, were it's horns.
They were fully grown ones.
For calamity monsters, bigger horns meant more battle experience.
Avaritia never saw someone with fully grown horns before, and he didn't have any himself either.
Their strength was enormous compared to grey creatures without horns.

Every calamity monster was born with that knowledge.

But the gem in the creature's hand got Avaritia's attention.
The gem was blue and sparkled. That was rare, considering that the crystals there were all purple.

He stared at the gem for some time before shouting,

"I'll join!"

The creature flinched at those words, but the he asked,

"Can you carry things?"

"My specialty~"

"Alright, you're in. But if you fail in any way, I'll kick you out."

Avaritia was overjoyed.

"Can we break things?"

Avaritia turned around.
It seemed like someone else wanted to join.

A spiky haired creature.

It had smaller horns, and it had visible ears. Ears are extremely rare among calamity monster.

Avaritia noticed that everything was destroyed into pieces behind that creature.
Rocks and crystal trees were broken into pieces, and seemingly rammed his hammer attached with crystals into the ground.

All that was behind that creature, but Avaritia just cried for the broken crystals.

"Well, in emergency we have to break stuff, so do you want to join?"
The creature on top of the rock asked with a serious look.

"Yes! I'll join!"
The spiky haired monster replied looking really happy.

"I'm happy to hear that, Spiky."
The creature said.

"Hey, my name is Aliumque!"
But the spiky haired monster wasn't happy with his nickname.

"Spiky is easier to remember."

"Arrgh!"

"Nice to meet you Spiky." (Avaritia)

"You too?! How mean!" (Spiky)

"Well whatever, so what's your name?"

"My name is Avaritia." (Avaritia)

I am your new Boss, Amicum. Just call me Boss.
Oh, and our group name is the shiny gang."
(Amicum)

"So, were do we find shiny stuff?"
asked Avaritia.

"Heh. Follow me."
Amicum led them to a big cave.

"Alright, we arrived."
He pointed at the cave.

"Behind those rocks, are mountains of shiny things. Spiky, destroy those rocks." (Amicum)

"Urgh, my name's not Spiky!
But whatever. I've been waiting for this~" (Spiky)

Spiky took his big rock with crystals attached to it and excitedly swung it at the rocks.

From the wall were gems pouring out.

"Quick! Grab as much as you can!"
(Amicum)

And so, they took as much as they could. But Avaritia grabbed even more.

"Hey, what are you doing with my gems?"

A creature woke up from the noise.
It noticed the hole in his wall.

The three tried to run, but spiky was struggling with the many gems.

The creature had the looks of a fat dragon. But almost the same size as the three of them. The dragon flew to Avaritia to attack,

"Leave this to me!" (Amicum)

Amicum dashed to the dragon before it could reach Avaritia, and rammed into him.

"Argh!"

The dragon instantly fainted.

"Wooaaah! Boss, you're so strong!"
Avaritia instantly began to admire his Boss.
Amicum looked proud at that praise.

Then they walked away.

They had no problems with the mountain of gems they took.

"Boss, why didn't you take any shiny things?"

Avaritia asked after noticing that Amicum didn't take any gems with him.

"I want both of you to learn how to carry that much by yourself."
Amicum answered, to hide the fact that he doesn't want to carry all that.

"Boss..."
Avaritia became moved by those words.

"Now, let's hide all this in our hideout." (Amicum)

"Where is it?" (Avaritia)

"Since my hideout is known to many people, I'll allow you to choose a new one for your hard work." (Amicum)

"Boss, you're so smart!"
Avaritia said with admiration.

Although Amicum never even had a hideout.

"Hey, wait for me!" (Spiky)
