∆∆∆∆∆∆
(Keith's POV)
I was the only one in the waiting room when the doctor walked in.
I'd just come back from taking a nap and a shower and eating, and since the parents had taken the previous shift, Ryder and I were on the next one.
Daisy would join us a little later since she'd gone to box, claiming it cleared her head. I believed her. Football helped me clear my head too.
"Keith. I was hoping everyone else would be here too." The doctor had seen me multiple times over the past two days, and seemed only right that he knew my name.
I rose.
"Doctor. Any news on Ky?"
The nickname was deliberate. I couldn't bring myself to say her whole name. Not until I saw her.
The doctor looked hesitant, but then he stepped aside revealing a tall, bulky nurse with a tiny figure clinging to her, like the nurse was her lifeline.
And judging from the IV lines and blood bag hanging from the pole-on-wheels in the figure's hand, it was quite likely that if the nurse let go, gravity would take hold in a horrible way.
Slowly, a sheepish grin spread across her face.
"Hi, Keith." She mouthed.
"I'm resisting the urge to hit you."
She shrugged.
Three huge strides.
That was all it took for Kylie to be nestled gently in my arms.
Slowly her arms wrapped around me too, but I was far to deep in ecstasy to care.
"I kinda hate you right now, you know?"
I told her pulling away to make sure this was still Kylie.
Her smile morphed into one doused in sadness and she shrugged again.
"How are you feeling?"
Kylie smiled and stuck out her thumbs before wincing really hard.
Again, I wrapped my arms around her to steady her.
"You know what, maybe we should take you back to your room. Keith can come with."
The nurse told Kylie, offering her her hand.
Kylie nodded, but she tightened her grip on me, making it clear she wasn't going to let go. I was both flattered and amused. Nevertheless, I let Kylie hang on to me.
Halfway to her room, Kylie's legs gave out.
I caught her just before she hit the ground, and then proceeded to carry her bridal style all the way back, all while secretly hoping I'd get to actually carry her bridal style sometime in the future.
