I park perfectly in place in the student parking lot. It's 10 minutes before the bell rings so I lower my music and unbuckle my seat belt. I grab the ticket and hold it against my chest. "Please. Please." I say as a whisper. I push the penny against the paper.
There is three sections to the ticket. The first section is three rows. If I get 3/5 of the same numbers then I win $5. I scratch out the three rows and there is nothing. The second section is similar to the first, but instead of numbers its symbols and I have to get 3/3 of the same symbols to win $20. The last section is big shot one. The key is pretty simple. If I get five 1's in a row then I win $5,000 weekly. If I get five 0's in a row then I win $10 million. I scratch the first number off and it says 0. Oh my God. I scratch of the next two numbers and 0, 0. Two more. Oh my God. I'm so nervous and my hands are shaking. I close my eyes and scratch off the last two numbers. I am way in over my head. I peep my left eye open and look down at the ticket. My eyes have to be betraying me. I look down at the key again and read it again thoroughly. I look back to my numbers and all five of them are 0's. This is seriously not freaking possible. Its not, it can't be. My lungs have forgotten how to let the air into them. I bite my lip so deep, but I can't feel it. I am so numb. I quickly decide to pull out of the student parking lot and make my way back to my house. As I'm driving, I know exactly what I am doing and what I have planned.
As soon as I am in my driveway, I put the lottery ticket in my purse once I pull it from the back of my truck. I grab my keys and unlock the door. My brother Nick is the only one home, who I know is asleep. I tip-toe to my bedroom. I close the door and lock it behind me. I bend down to look underneath my bed and pull my safe out and place it on top. I press in my four digit code onto the keypad of the safe, 0-2-7-1. I also push one of the keys on my key chain into the lock. It clicks and I open it. I grab the large stack of money out and count it. I have $5,720. I place it back and put the lottery ticket in the far left of it. Once I close it and lock it I place it back underneath my bed. I go downstairs and into my parent's walk in closet. In the corner is where they keep all of there suitcases. I grab two very large suitcases that my dad uses when he goes on his long two week trips to other countries for work. I also grab a small blue one that is mine that I use when we go on trips or vacation. I bring all of them up to my room and sit them down and open to place all of my belongings. The first two large suitcases I force all of my clothes and shoes in. The smaller one is filled with sentimental and miscellaneous items such as, toiletry, books, blankets, my laptop. I bring each suitcase down one by one due to the weight. Each suitcase is filled to the max. I place all three of them in the bed of my truck and are secured down with some bungee cords. I go back inside and grab two paper bags and fill them up to the top with snacks. I put Oreos, Lays, Cheetos, Beef Jerky, and Poptarts. I walk into my dad's garage and grab a little blue cooler my dad bought to bring drinks to Nick's little league baseball games. I put mainly Gatorade and Dr. Pepper in there. I won't put ice until later. The last thing is my safe.
I go back up to my now empty and in personal room and lift the safe out of my house and into my truck. I place it on the bottom of the right seat. Before I leave I lock my bedroom door and the front door to the house. I make my way back to school and park in the furthest back part of the student parking lot. I place all the snack bags on my safe to hid it. I push it way to front where you can barely even see the snack bags. I lock my doors and go around to check to see if the door is locked. I seriously have $10 million in there, there is no measure of being too safe. I walk in the school through the back to avoid any attendance officers asking me why I was late and where I was. I make my way to my first period class and as I walk through the halls of classrooms and all of them are closed and dark. Once I get to my AP English class I try the handle and its locked. I walk back to the lobby of the school and see Ralph the fat security guard with a mustache who you always catch looking at girl's asses. I walk up to him and ask, "Excuse me. I just got here and my class isn't in the classroom. Where is everyone?" "There all in the gym. They're having a pep-rally." he responds. "Oh thank you." Is all I say. As I make my way to the gym I think to myself. I'm only here to say goodbye to my friends, I have no idea where I am going and I haven't set my whole plan through, but I am. I just need to see them once more and of course I need to see Nathan one last time.
