This chapter has erotic scenes and strong language.I stop at a rest area to use the restroom and as I'm washing my hands I think about whats going on at home. If my parents are trying to call me or if the police are at my house. I have droven for about six hours. Its supposed to be five o' clock at home. I doubt that my parents have even noticed that I wasn't at home yet. They have no way to contact me. I sold my phone and I really hope Jamie keeps her promise and doesn't tell anyone, anything. I'm incredibly nervous, which is stupid because I'm 18 years old. I can go and do whatever I want. Once I dry my hands and walk out I head back to my truck. I put my seat belt on and grab my phone. I want to call Jen, but I don't want to chance the fact that her parents go through her phone when they find out I'm missing. I lock it and place it on the console. I look out the window and see three pay phones. I climb out of my truck and walk towards them. I put 25¢ in the coin deposit and call her number. "Hello??" "Jen! It's Holly." "Holly! I tried to call you after school, but it says the call couldn't go through." She explains. "I know, I sold it and got a new phone, I'm calling on a pay phone right now." "Why? Just call me on your new phone." "I can't. When my parents find out I'm missing they'll tell your parents and question you and go through your phone to find answers. They'll see my new number on your call list and they can easily track me." I finish. "Oh good thinking. So I'm at the Mc Donald's right now. Tell me the plan." She demands. "Okay, I'm not going to make it to Chicago by tonight. I'm going to come by morning. I'm going to stay at a hotel for the night and drive the last hours in the morning. Just act normal. My parents will surely by tonight be looking for me. I want you to act as if you don't know where I am and act really worried, cry even. Put on a little show." "Okay." She agrees. "Then, pretend you're going to school. Then when you're parents leave to work, go back to your house leave your car and I will pick you up by 9:00 a.m. Did you pack?" I ask. "Yes, a lot. I have three suitcases full. I know that's a lot, but.." "No! That's not!" I interrupt. "Where are the suit cases? You can't just have them out." I tell her. "They're not. They are under my bed with a blanket over them." She explains. "Okay, good. Leave your phone at your house, I'll buy you another one." I promise. "Okay... We're really going to do this?" She asks. "Yes." Is my only reply. "Where are we going?" She curiously asks. "I'll tell you all those details when we're on our way to Washington." "Washington? That's where we're going to be?" She says. "No. We just need to make a stop there." I tell her.
Please insert another quarter
I oblige and push another quarter into the phone. "Okay, Jen. You know what to do. I'll probably call you on another pay phone when I'm in Chicago." I tell her. "Alright. Holly, be safe please." She demands. "I will, love you." "Love you too. Bye." "Bye." I hang the phone back up and walk back to my truck and drive off.
It's about to be seven o' clock, so it's eight back home. If my parents haven't noticed.... that's horrible. I looked up a hotel earlier and I'm only about a mile away. My eyes are super heavy because of the lack of sleep last night. It's crazy how just last night I was in my bed and hating life. Now, I have never been so excited and thrilled for the things to come in my life or at least in a very long time. I pull into the parking lot of a more of a motel then a hotel. It's called Lost Woods Resort. I park and walk into the main office.
"Welcome to The Lost Woods Resort. How may I help you?" the man at the desk says. "Yes, I would like a room for one night." I tell him. "Alright well the rate per night is $85 and I need to see I.D." He explains. Damn, I don't want to give him my I.D. "If I give you $150 for the room can we skip the whole I.D process?" I debate. "Ummm.." He says. I slide the amount of money to him. He grabs it a puts it in his pocket. "Here's you key." He hands me it. Thank God. I grab it from him and turn around to walk out. My room number is Room 2. I grab all my suit cases and my safe out from the truck and pull them in. I put my safe at the top of a closet and shut it close. I lock all the locks to the door and even place a chair to jam into the doorknob.
