“An angel. Your guardian angel?” The police officer looks at her across the table. She sits, hands crossed together on her knees, the bruise on her face standing out in the harsh florescent lights.

“I know it sounds crazy, but it is true. That’s what he told me. This voice in my head. Not no fallen angel either else it would have told me to go ahead a shoot Billy.”

“We are thankful you didn’t do that.” On the other side of the mirrored glass stands a detective and the precinct’s psychologist.

“What do you think doc?”

“She believes what she is saying. Her own good sense kicked in and she doesn’t want to admit that as she believes he needed shooting. She isn’t dangerous or she would have shot him. She has been through enough. Let her…” Her words are interrupted by the breathless arrival of a junior detective.

“Sorry. I knew her story sounded familiar. There is this man, lives in Ohio. Names Saul Rosen. He can do amazing things. See.” He thrust a stack of papers at his senior detective. The man frowns but starts to read. He is soon looking up.

“This for real?”

The other detective nods. “I called and spoke with Detective McKay. It is all real.”

“Son of a…!”

“Detective?” He recalls the doc and hands her the reports. She reads as the two detectives talk it over.

“This Mr. Rosen could be her guardian angel.”

“Yep. Okay, this is what we are going to do.  We will reach out to Detective McKay and her superiors. See if we can talk to this Mr. Rosen. See if he..”

“Was here in California last night.”

“Right.”

“Detectives if this is for real, I would love to talk to him also.”

“Sure doc. We can probably make that happen.”
