He is sitting back up in his chair, his hands clinched tight to the armrests. Emily sits beside him, her eyes huge and her skin a bit pale. “Welcome back.” Her voice is a tad shaky.

“Sorry I…” He shakes his head to clear it. “No one outside the police, has ever witness my traveling. Did I do or say anything weird?”

Her face is slowly regaining it’s color as she realizes that he is alright. “The only recognizable thing you said was, “don’t cut her,” and nothing to weird. You were in a trance like state.”

“Good. I didn’t want to scare you to bad.”

“I’m okay. Is she? Did he cut her?”

Her questions bring him back to the matter at hand. “He cut her clothes. He meant to rape her. I need to call the station.”

“Of course.” He reaches for the phone and her hand. She holds his while he talks to the police.

“I know it isn’t the normal thing I bare witness to but.. Yes, thank you. No, he has definitely heard voices before and I believe he was hearing them at the time. No, I don’t believe so, at least physically, just a destroyed wedding dress. Thank you. You will let me know. Awesome.”

“She was a bride?” He turns to Emily after hanging up.

“Yes, her new husband,” he goes to tell her everything, “then I returned back to you.”

“How horrific! If you didn’t..he heard you because he was already hearing voices. That must be why you went there.”

“Yes, it must be. I am sorry that it interrupted our.. ahh..”

“I’m not. Not that I don’t want, I really do,” His face smooth’s out in relief. “we were just going to fast. How about a date? A few dates before..”

“Sounds good to me. Emily, will you..?” His phone rings and he sighs. “Hold that thought.” He answers. “Hello. You did. Thank goodness. Was he..? Oh.. but she obviously didn’t know. Oh that was not bright.  Thank you. I am glad he is getting help. Okay goodbye.”

Emily waits, arms crossed. “Well?”

“Oh right. Will you honor me by letting me take you out?”

She smiles. “Absolutely. The phone call, they got him?”

“Yes sorry. He was picked up. Diagnosed as schizophrenic. He went off his meds because he wanted to marry as himself but neglected to tell his bride. Either that he was off his meds or about the diagnosis at all.”

Emily rolls her eyes. “Good gracious, not so bright, is he?”

“No. The lady in question has came to the police station and is talking to the officers. I believe she will stand by him.”

“They will need a lot of therapy.” He laughs.

“Oh so true. Shall I walk you to your car and we can discuss our date?”  He stands and helps her up, keeping her hand as they walk out.
