Chapter 31: Their strategy

"You said you wanted to talk? So talk." Kagami said coldly.

"I went to eat with Adrien tonight at a nice restaurant. I have suspicions that he's dating Marinette. He wouldn't deny it. You know how those two have been dancing circles around each other for years." Luka smiled, almost laughing at their dense clumsiness.

"Her? So what of it? What does this have to do with me, Luka?" Kagami asked, turning to him.

Luka could see the hurt in her face. Even though she acted like she didn't care. He could tell she very much did. She still loved Adrien and she was sad that her friendship with Marinette deteriorated because of her feelings for Adrien.

He knew that Marinette and she were at one point friends and then once Kagami and Adrien started dating... she became... obsessive and wouldn't let anyone around either of them. She blocked out anyone that came around. It didn't end pretty. Luka knew it wasn't the best relationship for Adrien but he wanted Marinette back in his life.

"I might... have mentioned you during dinner tonight as well."

"You what?!"

"Woah. I only said you came to me and asked for help... which you did."

Kagami went quiet, though Luka could still see the irritation in Kagami's eyes as she waited for an explanation.

"I told him to talk to you. I'm hoping if you two reconnect... you two can... get back together." Luka smiled.

"Hm... I see... You're wanting Adrien and I to be together so you and Marinette can be together." Kagami said.

"I love Marinette. I think Adrien is a great guy. Though... Adrien is... no offense... very blind. He isn't what she needs. He wouldn't appreciate her and only sees her on the outside. I was there to comfort her through all the rejections he put her through, I was her shoulder to cry on." Luka sighed.

"You care for her and her well-being. I see that. Though what if that isn't what she wants?" Kagami asked.

"I'm not going to force them apart. I'm going to let them be happy if they are happy... but... if there's a tiny bit of sadness or regret with being with him, I will gladly steal her away." Luka smiled.

Kagami smiled, seeing how passionate Luka was about Marinette.

"You're a really good guy, Luka. Though, I'm not a good person like you. I've been through so much lately and just... can't tell what is good or bad anymore. All I know is... that Adrien and I were always made for each other. We both may have hit a bump right now, but later on... we'll look back on it as a challenge we faced." Kagami said.

"So you're going to force them apart?" Luka asked.

Kagami went silent.

"I wouldn't say that... I would say more along the lines of... I will do everything I can to make sure Adrien and I are together." Kagami smiled, looking down at the bracelet she wore that had a crystalized rose melded inside of it. It was the rose that Adrien gave to her when he was "switching targets". To her... it meant he was switching to loving her.

Kagami walked in and Luka shut the door behind her as everyone's faces varied with her arrival.

"Kagami?" Adrien said, more shocked and confused than happy to see her in that particular setting.

The last time he had seen her... he basically rejected her. She thought he wanted to get back together, but that was obviously wrong. Kagami looked at Marinette and bit back a frown as she saw how close Adrien and Marinette were sitting next to one another.

"Would you like to have a seat, Kagami?" Luka asked, waving his hand toward the couch for her to sit down next to Adrien.

Kagami gave a polite nod and proceeded to walk toward the couch and sit down next to Adrien. While Luka returned back to his spot beside Marinette on the end corner of the couch.

"So... what brings you here, Kagami?" Marinette smiled.

"Luka invited me," Kagami said coldly.

Everyone turned to Luka, waiting for him to fill in the question instead.

"Uh... well..." Luka looked at Kagami and saw her glaring at him, pushing him to come up with a good excuse as to why she was there.

"Well.. we're uh... dating?" Luka said, a little more questionable than anything.

"Wait- You and Kagami are dating?" Adrien asked, confused.

"Oh my gosh! Luka! That's amazing!" Rose squealed, hugging him.

"Thanks, Rose. Though we haven't been dating long." He smiled nervously, feeling the harsh pressure of Kagami's eyes on him.

"Is that why you two aren't sitting next to one another? Are you nervous?" Marinette winked, nudging his shoulder with a giggle.

Luka gave a fake soft laugh to fill in the awkward silence as he saw Kagami's angry face. Kagami stood up with a huff and Luka stood up as well.

"We will be right back. We wanna discuss our dinner plans tonight." Luka smiled sheepishly, gently guiding Kagami to the kitchen.

As they disappeared, Adrien watched them closely. Feeling something was a little off about them.

"What's wrong Adrien?" Marinette smiled, snapping him out of his thoughts.

"Oh- uh nothing. Nothing's wrong, princess." He laughed.

"Princess? That's such a cute nickname!" Rose smiled, her eyes gleaming.

"Rose, you need to calm down, you're going to embarrass them." Juleka laughed.

As Rose, Juleka, Adrien, and Marinette rejoiced in their reunion, Kagami and Luka were busy whispering to each other in the kitchen.

"What was that Luka!" Kagami glared, looking up at him.

"I- well... I couldn't come up with anything. I figured you would." Luka sighed.

"You invited me. Don't you think it would be logical for you to come up with the plan?" Kagami scoffed.

"I actually didn't know they were going to be here in advance or I would have warned you ahead of time. I walked in and they were here. When I got the chance that's when I sent you the text to..." Luka trailed off.

"You sent me the text to come over... I get it. Luka. You need to think ahead. You're a smart guy. How are we going to get together with Adrien and Marinette if we're... technically dating?" Kagami rubbed her face as she groaned.

"It's ok... I have a plan. We get them separated from one another. We will learn intel about them. We can pretend to have a big fight and Adrien will comfort you and Marinette being the sweet girl she always is... will comfort me. We show them who we truly are. Really good people." Luka smiled.

"Or... because that will never work. Or... when Marinette is comforting you. You send her to go up after Adrien. I will kiss him and she will see me kissing him and that will break them up." Kagami smiled.

"Kagami?" Luka asked.

"What is it?" Kagami asked, looking up at him.

"Have you been hanging around anyone new?" He said looking down at her, a little worried.

"Why do you ask?"

"If it's Lila. You need to stay away from her. She's always up to no good." Luka warned her.

"Luka. I'm an adult. I can be friends with anyone I wish. Thank you for your concern. Though Lila and I have been friends for a while, unlike any of you. After the breakup with Adrien, I had no one. Lila was there for me." Kagami sternly said.

"Just... be careful. She isn't always doing things for the best of others. You may lose all of your friends again due to her." Luka sighed, putting his hand on her shoulder.

"Like I said, Luka. I'm fine." Kagami said, dipping her shoulder so his hand would fall.

"Now, let's get them separated. Take Adrien downstairs to play instruments. We're going to have a girl talk." Kagami said, walking back toward the living room.
