As Finn's eyes fell on you he did not immediately react. Instead, he frowned and tilted his head. He remembered seeing your face once before but couldn't tell exactly.

The hope that he would just never remember rose in you.

But a second later something lit up in his eyes. A smile appeared on his face, strangely broad and friendly.

"The name is Finn.", he introduced himself as if you were meeting for the first time. "Silco told me he had company. But he never said that you were... so... remarkable."

Biting your lips, you out on a smile and shook his hand. The touch made your body shiver. As he refused to let go, your heart stopped beating for a moment again.

He squeezed his hand shut so tightly that it started to hurt.

You took that as a threat. Quickly, your eyes jumped to Silco.

His gaze met yours, locking with it for a moment. It did not take a second for him to notice that something was off. He frowned, but kept the game going and offered Finn a third chair.

"So?", Silco repositioned his own seat closer to you. "How is the business going?"

His hand slid under the table cloth, laying on your thigh as natural as possible.

Finn did not notice. He was too busy emptying his glass.

"It's going just fine.", his eyes fell on you again. "We had... a small incident."

"Incident?"

Your hands found his, wrapping around two of his fingers. Compared to yours, his hands were huge. You could barely grab four of his fingers.

To warn him, you gave them a gentle squeeze, forming a rhythm that was close to morse code.

Finn nodded.

"Yeah. Someone... broke into Renni's cave and stole a few high quality samples. I wonder what for..."

Silco hummed, playing unmoved.

"She never informed me about that."

"She didn't because it was a minor inconvenience. But recent events made it... appear more important. I wonder if they are connected to someone... powerful."

Now, Silco understood. As he squeezed your hand, he silently signalised that you had some explaining to do.

His lips twitched but he managed to not look at Finn with the disgust he was feeling towards him.

As soon as Finn realised that the mood was dropping, he cleared his throat.

"Let's change the topic.", he grinned. "You so look rather alike. Rumours say you like to mark what's yours."

Silco couldn't help but growl slightly. How much he hated this fat rat.

"What are you implying?", he asked rolling his eyes.

"Oh, you know. A partner in crime is nice but... a weakness."

"I do not have weaknesses, Finn."

Finn glanced at you, grinning.

"My eyes tell me otherwise. I don't want to be rude... but let me give you some advice. Sometimes having people around can hurt more than being lonely. It's unwise to give the lurking rats an invite to bite you.", right after he said it he shrugged and gifted Silco a smile. "Now, I don't want to interrupt the two of you. Excuse me, I'll be on my way."

With a nod of his head, he slid off the chair and walked off. But before he passed you, his eyes fell down. The shimmer inside the green was a dangerous one, poisonous even.

A shiver crawled down your spine. But you did not look away. You did not want to give him the satisfaction.

Silco did not move nor look at him. Patently he waited until the parasite was gone and turned to you.

The look on his face was a warning one, trying to be patiently waiting for an explanation while being at the verge of exploding.

"I think it's time for us to go as well.", he said in a threateningly silent voice.

Swallowing hard, you nodded.

"I agree.", you mumbled.

"You should have told me!", he hissed, trying his best not to scream.

His voice was sore, the expression on his face restless.

Nervously, his hands kept stroking through his hair, making it a mess and tidying it up again.

Rubbing your forehand, you sighed.

"I told you where I got the material from.", you said, grabbing him by the shoulders so be would finally stop running around like a headless chicken.

"You told me you got them from Renni."

"And I did. But she had company that day."

"Finn, out of all people."

"How was I supposed to know we would meet him at dinner?"

"If you would have told me he saw you too I wouldn't have taken you out."

His foot was tapping on the ground, restless, nervous even. His breath was quick, it seemed like he was thinking about all the possible options that could happen in the near future.

Sighing, you grabbed his face with both hands.

"Would you please stand still for two seconds and listen?", you asked.

"How am I supposed to listen?!", he screamed into your face.

Immediately, the anger died down again as he noticed the shock in your eyes.

You swallowed hard before continuing.

"I didn't tell you because you control everything.", you sighed. "I assumed that you knew about them being backstabbing rats. It was stupid of me to steal, true, but if you would have requested the samples yourself, they would have smelled something is off. They would have tried to get rid of you earlier."

Taking a deep breath in, he had to close his eye. His hands rose to yours, wrapping around them.

"He knows now.", Silco said, his eyes meeting yours. "He might be an idiot but not entirely brainless. You stole the samples for me and he knows. He assumes I have two weaknesses. He might try to kill me with Renni's help."

"I'm willing to pay my price."

"I'm not. You won't die. Not as long as I live."

"Don't be ridiculous! You will have to sacrifice me to settle things with them."

His eyes moved away from yours, avoiding them. His arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer.

"You talk as if you don't have kids to care for.", he mumbled, his head falling against yours. "They need you. Jinx needs you."

"I'm confident that you could turn them into some good henchmen. Feed them well."

"No. You'll take care of them. As you should."
